SOURCE: no water to ice maker

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

Check to make sure you freezer is at 0 to 5 degrees. If it is not the water valve to the ice maker will not even open.

SOURCE: Brand new Kenmore refrigerator, ice maker does not work

According to the manufacture, you must wait 24hrs to reap the benefits of the automatic ice maker. I was helping a friend the other day install a water line to a side by side unit that had been running for well over a week and after turning the water on we got no ice. We contacted the manufacture and they said "there is a 24hr waiting period". This makes no sense. I wasn't trying to get a gun permit, just ice.

    SOURCE: Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

I replaced the inlet valve on my kenmore frigde, but the icemaker is still not getting water. Water is running good from source, and the feed tube to the tray is clear and not frozen.

Sounds like an ice maker problem. Can you advance the ice maker? Is it a whirlpool style ice maker? As long as the water line from the valve to the ice maker is clear it must be either the ice maker or the optics (if so equipped).

Kenmore refrigerator model 70182001. I have thawed out the defrost drain multiply time and it keeps freezing up.

I had the same problem. I had to get a kit that fit around the heater and stuck down the drain. So when it went into defrost it would melt the ice in the drain. Worked well for a long time.

Water not getting to the ice maker kennmore 106.58212400

If you have not water getting to your ice maker than you need to follow the water service to the ice maker box or fridge. My best guess is that the water is still going to the ice maker. it is just froze up. I think you should un-plug it for a little while and see if it works after that. (if its a fridge) Hope this helps. Tim

    Hello Rick,

That water is from the melting frost of the automatic defrost cycle. Their is drain in the freezer behind the back wall under the evaperator coil that is blocked, so instead of defrost water draining it's pooling in the freezer or in some case espically on models with the freezer on the top,the water is leaking from the freezer vents into the fresh food compartment.
The way to clear the drain is remove back plate and remove all ice build up and GENTLY make a small hole in drain through then totally flush w/warm water.
The exact location of drain is under the coil behind back freezer plate in the center

    Good luck

    I hope this helps

Kenmore Cold spot refrigerator model 106 70182001 leaking inside in the back of the refrigerator. Having to keep bowls in the back of the top shelf. How can I fix this?

Your defrost drain in the frezer is cloged. Every day when your refrig sellf defrosts the water should drain into a hole that leads to a tube wich drains the water to a pan under the refrig. You need to turn offrefrig and remove frezer floor and rear wall and clean out hole and tube with hot water.

Kenmore 56541 side by side icemaker nor making ice The in door water dispencer works Arm on tray is on no water getting to tray

1.Bad water valve located in the back bottom of refrigerator.
    2. Frozen fill tube going into back of ice maker. (common problem)
    3. Ice maker not cycling. Pour water into ice maker cavity until near filled.
Wait a few hours and see if it dumps.
4.In rare cases, the switch in the ice maker body fails. Ice maker will cycle but not tell water valve to refill.

Kenmore s/s 106.56536400 ice maker stopped working.

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps the ice but doesn't refill , replace the dual water inlet valve . If it doesn't dump the cubes , replace the ice maker . Also check to see that the coils under refrig are clean of dust , lint , pet hair , etc. Your water valve , has 2 main solenoids . One for the water dispenser , and , one for the ice maker .

Kenmore side by side makes no ice

the water line coming into the freezer may be iced up. or the motor that spins the ice "ejector" arm may be stuck. try spinning it manually (just dont force it).

    Kenmore Ice Maker

Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.
