SOURCE: 5 ton goodman ac unit
You MUST WEIGH IN THE NEW CHARGE OF R-22. There should be a label on the side of the a/c unit that states what the factory charge was. This is only a starting point. Once you have the factory charge in the system, then turn on the unit and allow it to stabilize (5 min) . Check pressure on low side and check teperature on low side pipe. Temperature of pipe should be 8 to 15 degrees above what the boiling point of the refrigerant is for the current pressure you are reading. If the temperature is more than 15 degrees, add R-22 in 4oz increments allowing 5min in between each time you add until you are in the "zone". When you do this, your head pressure needs to be 225-250. if you need to cover the coil or block the outdoor fan to do this then do it. Hook up the vacuum pump and start over

Yes. The condenser is 1.5 ton and the larger coil will allow for better dehumidification but do not go any larger. Make sure when installed that bioth super heat and subcool are measured to insure proper charge and that system is working at peak performance.

Remove the cover where the power goes into the outside unit. In there should be the capacitor, circuit board, and contactor. There may be 2 capacitors or just one that works for the fan and compressor. If there is just 1 it will have 3 terminals and it is important to hook the wires back right so label them and write it down if you need to.
