Yes. Make sure your speakers are first properly connected, then enabled to operate on the setup menu. Then run either a test tone for all channels or media recorded in surround sound or run in 4 channel stereo to test.
Not all media will produce surround effects 100% of the time.

Center speaker problem on pioneer vsx 40 .I hooked up the center speaker and I can’t get sound from it

Most problems are menu settings, because surround modes can be complex and confusing. Verify what surround input type you are using. FM tuner will not play center spkr unless put into a simulate or expand stereo mode. Do other surround speakers work other than normal L/R stereo mode? You can try redoing your auto surround setup (MCACC) or going to the manual speaker setup and verifying speaker is turned on in menu system. Rechech you listening mode setups at Pages 33,38,39 in your manual. Try another speaker and wiring on center output. Try Different surround inputs, some manufactuers have had problems with their DTS and HDMI boards. Otherwise take to repair.

Check in your speaker setup menu. Sometimes you can select between using the surround back speaker jacks as "B" front speakers as well. You would have to tell the unit which one you want to use it as.

No sound from Russound ss-4 after connecting to BACK surround speaker connections on the 2807.

Check the speaker setup configuration in the setup menu. Many times the surround back speaker terminals can be assigned to something else like zone 2. They may just be turned off.

I plugged my speakers into the orange circle behind my computer, and no sound is coming out. Why isn't working?

Hello Shantilla hi, the orange port is for the Center speaker for a 5.1 surround set up. to enable this you need to find the controls of the sound setup. usually on the lower right side of the computer. If the sound card is a Realtek brand the sound manager is the orange speaker ICON, need to open this sound manager software and enable 5.1 surround. You need the SOUND driver to use the surround setup.

Rear surround sound speakers not working during movie.

Look on your manual, page E16. Go into your speaker setup. Select your speakers (Front,C,Surround, Sub) and make sure each are selected as "small" (make sure you go through each one). If the surrounds are selected as "none" the rear will not activate and will light up as red on the display. Let me know if this helps.

I need help with my surround sound!!

The calibration mic thing is to balance the sound evenly on surround sound systems, it replacles the older systems "TEST TONE" speaker setup, in other words it will balance each speaker say in a 5.1 setup to adjust the level output so the listening position is not overwhemled by say the rear surround speaker overriding the front left & right speaker or the most critical the center speaker. The calibration mic uses computer tech to make it easier for the user, no sound pressure calibration is needed as with the test tone setup mentioned earlier. The wireless speaker situation could be possibly waiting for the calibration confirmation, Read any user manual information if available.

Kenwood VR6070 speaker/amp problems

unit needs repair. Look at the b speakers. Conect a speaker or two to the B position. If you have no sound than your surrond sound is ok and the unit is bad. Sound comes directly into the b speaker and not threw the surrond system. My 6070 has a cold start up problem. no sound. time to purchase a new one. to costly to repair.

Onkyo HT-SR800 the surround speakers are not blasting

I had the same problem and fixed it by manually setting the surround speakers changing the Level Cal to +12dB. You will immediately notice a significant increase in volume and may need to back down on the dB's. What a diffence it makes!

Surround speakers don't work

Hello barstep,

Let's go through some steps that will help alleviate your problem. We'll start from the simple to the not so obvious:

1.- Perform a visual inspection on the back of the receiver and verify that all speaker connections (specially the surrounds) are not loose, shorting out another connection or are pushed too deep into the speaker connector so the wire insulation prevents proper contact. If this is not the problem then...
2.- Get into your receiver's "Manual Setup" and verify that your surround speakers are set either to "SML" or "LRG" but not "NONE".
3.- Verify the receiver is not in "Straight" mode, shown on the receiver's display. I f so, press the "Straight" front panel button until indication disappears.

Your owner's manual can give you detailed information to access the setup menus.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if we can further assist you.
