SOURCE: Sanyo Projector PLC-XU50 Lamp Hours

Turn projector on and before doing anything else, press and hold the UP arrow on the machine for 30-40 seconds WHILE watching the display screen on the wall - the remaining hours will display only momentarily - if you look away you could miss it. Cheers

SOURCE: How to check lamp hours on xf-45 or xf-35?

On the XF-45, you push the "UP" button and then the "Menu" button and hold both of them for approximately 20 seconds. After that you will see a bunch of numbers in the top left hand corner of the screen. Using the Left and Right arrow keys, move the "Group" number until it reads 111. Then using the Up and Down arrow keys to scroll through each lamp (0-3).

If you move the "Group" number to 110, you can see total number of hours that socket has run.

SOURCE: projector turns off after 5 seconds

You have a classic temp sensor problem. Its a fail safe on theprojector, basically a fuse that bridges the main power cables. Lookslike a little pot, With a white ceramic head.
Now what it does, Is the white ceramic head rises as the unit getshotter, and thus breaks the power circut. All you need to do is, openup the unit, locate the sensor (its mounted next to the lamp on yourprojector) And push the little white head back down, thus closing thecircut, and restoring power supply.
Here is the full repair schematic to guide you. :)

SOURCE: My Sanyo PLV21 is about

Hello
Dirt sticked [fungul infection] to lens will make this problem. If you are aware to disassemble the lens assembly, do a clean to it. Lamp trouble won't produce this type of fault. Actually this is a silled work, need care and, patience and all te tools to disassemble it. Lens cleaning solution can be bought from most of the canera sparepart shops. Blowing air with blower does not remove this sticked dirt on the inner surface of lens. OK.

Black marks on screen

my lamp problems usually start with red shades in bottom corners - red, black - same issue I think.
check your hours of filter (and clean) - clean inside your housing as helps and check lamp hours - you usually get 1500 to 3000 hours (check your user guide for lamp hours)
try and live with problem until you need new bulb as not cheap

good luck

The machine says please clean filter, do you know what we need to do and how. Thank you Peter

The filter is a very important to the COOLING OF THE LAMP and so if this is clogged there will not be free flow which can reduce the lamp hours.
So check the filter which is a small window with a LID that must be opened- close to the fan vent. This air is pulled up through the filter and so must be clean. Also the lid must be placed back properly to activate the micro switch within the door to allow the set the power on.

My projector overheats quickly

Two possibilities:

1) Air filter is clogged and preventing proper air flow

2) Lamp is getting old and is less efficient, creating excess heat.

For option 1, check the air filter located on the bottom of the projector. Page 81 of the manual details this process:

http://www.wrcs.k12.mi.us/Technology/How%20Tos/Ceiling%20Projectors%20PGC45X.pdf

Once you have removed filter, either replace or clean out with vacuum or simply blowing out the dust

Option 2: if you have used the projector for over 1500 hours, there is a good chance the lamp is close to the end of its life cycle. Check to see if the lamp replacement light is on; it is just below the power button on the unit.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can take out the lamp by following the instructions on page 86 of the manual: http://www.wrcs.k12.mi.us/Technology/How%20Tos/Ceiling%20Projectors%20PGC45X.pdf

Once removed from the unit, see if the lamp has any bubbles or crystallization. The crystallization makes the mirror in the lamp look muddled, rather than crisply reflecting light.

Hope this helps.

Like any projector, enclosed in a cabinet or not, it has a lamp and/or filter hour counter. Did you reset these when you put in the new lamp? Also, did you replace/clean filter. VERY IMPORTANT.

How to remove lamp of epson projector emp-82

the top of the projector back left hand corner facing the lens. there is a panel door there is a screw located on the rear of the unit that holds the lamp cover. remove this screw then slide and lift up on the panel door. As you look inside you will see two lamp screw that need to be removed as well. hold the lamp and lift it up out of the projector. Insert the new lamp and replace the screw.
You will then need to reset the lamp hours in configuration menu. This is a good time to clean your filter this is located on the bottom of the projector near the front.

Flashing red light on lamp and filter

OK, let me throw out some possibilities. Most projectors how a built in lamp and filter timer. This lets you know when you need to clean your filter or replace your bulb. If left unchecked some models can prevent you from using the projector til the maintenance has been resolved. Clean your filter and refer to your owner's manual for how to reset the timers. If you still get the blinking or red lights after you have reset the timers then you may have a bad bulb or the contacts in the lamp assembly are tarnished or corroded. Pull out the lamp assembly and make sure the leads to the lamp are tight now take a small knife and scratch the metal contacts that the lamp assembly uses to connect to the projector. Clean them well so they will make good contact. Reinsert the assembly, close the case, and try it out. If you do not know how to take out the lamp then refer to your manual as it will have detailed instructions. If your projector still does not work then your lamp is bad and needs to be replaced.
