If you go to Start > Printers
Find your printer and check the status.
Is the printer slightly greyd out? Also right click on the printer and check to see what the status is.. double click on your printer and at the top left of the window you will see the status. If it is offline click printer from the menu bar and select Connect.

Dan first of check there is enough ink in the cartridge.If NOT replace with new, secondly check the drives update all for that go to device manager,and update...Also check the cable connection to your system..

The ink is leaking out of the cartridge or ink leaked inside my machine.what should I do?

Brother strongly recommends that customers do not use generic ink or refill their Brother ink cartridges. Using non-Brother supplies may affect the hardware performance, print quality and machine reliability since the ink formulation in genuine Brother ink cartridges prevent smearing and clogging of the print head. The Brother limited warranty does not apply to any problem that was caused by the use of unauthorizedthird party ink and/or cartridges.
If the ink cartridge is new and has not been installed into the machine, please do not install the ink cartridge. Place the ink cartridge back into the ink cartridge packaging and call the Brother Customer Service Department at 1-800-284-4329 for assistance.
If the ink cartridge has been installed into the machine and ink has leaked inside the machine, do not remove the ink cartridge from the machine.

I guess you d used generic ink carts?! If yes, the cart holder needs replacement due to ink that has stained the led control. The ink has made a short circuit. The error can only be deleted by replacing the whole cart holder!
Did you do a firmware update? If not go to brother homepage , download the update tool and do the update if it is avaiable.
Do you print with generic ink? If yes this prob is because of different color depth. Try to print with the original innobella ones or do some resettings within the printers properties when you print a pic from pc.
You may test the print out by printing directly from a picture card without pc.
