It seems that the concerned computer is not booting up. Disconnect the power to the computer and open the case.

Remove the memory sticks and then plug them in more securely.

Reconnect the power and check if the computer boots up

The problem is most likely the video card.

If it's onboard ( On the motherboard) then I'd suggest clearing the cmos by shorting the correct jumper.

It's usually the one closest to the battery on the motherboard.

If you have a separate video card then I'd suggest removing the card from the motherboard and then resetting it back into the computer.

You might also want to do the same thing with the memory modules.

Let me know what happens.

Your monitor I assume is a LCD? if so then the problem may be the special light in the monitor that "backlights" the screen is burned out, if u look through the vents at the back of the monitor u will see a super bright light, u will only see a small portion of the large Neon backlight bulb as it has a shield over most of it. The bulbs can be replaced but it is usually cheaper to replace the monitor. Go to the link for how the LCD monitor works

The computer is not starting up, theres a hardware problem, It would be best to take the computer to a professional who can test the parts and fix the problem.

Just to clarify, is the monitor, mouse, keyboard and modem all not working?

When you start the computer, does anything at all appear on-screen? If not, can I just get you to double check all the connections to your computer are connected securely - especially the monitor.

If nothing appears on-screen, is you monitor's light turned on, and what colour is it?

Please also provide the following information:

  • Monitor make and model
  • Computer's make and model
  • Which operating system you use (Windows XP, Vista, etc)?
  • Was everything working before or is this a new computer which you have just setup?
  • Do you recall doing anything recently that may have caused this to happen?
This information will allow me to assist further. I look forward to your reply.

Best regards

I'm sure we can try to identify what the cause of the problem is. I'm still a little confused on exactly what does and does not work.

I understand you have everything connected to the computer. I still need to know the following and would be grateful if you could answer the following questions:

  • Which operating system you use (Windows XP, Vista, etc)?

  • Was everything working before or is this a new computer which you have just setup?

  • Do you recall doing anything recently that may have caused this to happen?

  • Any error messages that appear on the screen?

  • Does anything at all appear on the screen when you turn the computer on?

    1. Connect everything to the faulty computer

    2. Turn on the monitor

    3. Turn on the faulty computer

    4. What appears on the screen?

    There are two possibilities.

Your computer's display adapter may be failing and needs replacing.

Or your computers BIOS needs to be reset. This will require opening up the computer case, removing a tiny switch and placing it back on.

If you're comfortable with doing this (at your own risk), let me know and I'll give instruction. I don't think the computer is dead, I'm sure it can be repaired at a computer repair shop. Problems like this are very common and easily fixed.

If you're not comfortable doing the above, it is definately better to get it checked out at repair shop.

    Best regards

Computer powers on but monitor, keyboard and mouse are not working

Once the monitor shows "no input", indeed the mouse and keyboard are pretty useless, even if the are working, as you cannot see they are working. If the monitor power light is on or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.

    Themouse does not show

A steady or Amber blinking power button indicates a low voltage problem. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Got a dc7600, need to add 2 more monitors, as video cards in my other computers will not fit (too large for slot)..if i can , i need a video card with two slots to attach both monitors or get 2 video...

Which part of the video-cards are "too large" -- the electronic circuitry, or just the "spine"?

If just the "spine" is too tall, then unscrew the spine from the card, and attach a shorter spine.
Or, if you are "brave", then run "*****" -- don't attach any "spine" to the video-card.
Just connect the VGA/DVI cable from the monitor directly to the video-card.

to my understanding,LCD can only be connected as monitor ,not to become a computer itself.if ever it can be use as one, you'll need all the basic of the computer accessories.wireless modem can be use as long as there is a slot for or the unit is compatible for a wireless connection.check first if there is a socket for keyboards and everything before buying.since it can be connected only by vga cable, i assume that it is for monitor use only, unless you want to use two monitors at the same time.
