SOURCE: Pioneer Receiver SX-750: Getting a loud hum through the speakers

The hum you hear from the speakers and from the unit itself originate with 60hz AC power. They may not actually be related. Sometimes a transformer will hum slightly and unnoticeably. That you're getting a loud speaker hum says there is an electrical leak or a grounding issue somewhere.

Do all sources produce the hum or, say, just the phono? How about on headphones? Try rotating the AC plug. In those days they weren't keyed with one large blade as they are now.

SOURCE: Pioneer Receiver SX-750: Getting a loud hum through the speakers

I had a similar problem when my Plazma TV + DVD Player + Receiver all interconnected. Some time later, I realized that the hum was leaking from CATV connecton to my TV antenna input which was indirectly reaching to my Pioneer receiver. When I disconnected the CATV cable, the sound was perfectly clean.
I guess mains power was interfering to CATV signal somewhere.

I.Kostak from Turkey.

Usually indicates old/faulty transistors or capacitors, not uncommon with a unit of this age. A good repairman can restore these to working condition.

Can I connect my Dual turntable to pioneer VSX D712 receiver. I tried connecting it to a preamp (bought from Circuit City) and then to AUX, but all I get is a loud hum

I presume you bought a PHONO preamp from RS. That should be all you need. Is the TT otherwise functional? Loud hum is usually an ungrounded or unshielded signal cable. Phone cartridges create such a small primary signal that any external airborne electrical noise entering the circuit will be very large in comparison. Check cables and make sure the headshell is locked in correctly on the tonearm. Examine the small cables connecting the cartridge. Dual = good turntables. I have a CS1249 from the 70's.

What could be causing a power hum for about 1 to 2 minutes after startup? Sony STR-DE825

Depends where the hum originates. If it is from the case, it is likely from the transformer which may rattle laminations a bit till it warms.

If it is out of the speakers, then the amplifiers MAY not be balancing till warm up... that would not be good... keep your eye on that and if it gets loud, take it for repair ASAP.

If unit is old, the filter caps may be going bad OR there may be a bad solder joint in the power supply area that doesn't contact till it gets warm... that also needs fixing ASAP.

My pioneer a400 hums(very loud) through headphone sockets and speakers, why?

You're probably picking up 60hz AC hum. Through WHAT program sources? You need to isolate the source(s) before an answer can be given. Just phono or any other single source? Bad connection of the RCA cables or bad grounding. Try flipping the AC cord polarity around on the affected component.

If it is a loud hum besure there is a ground wire connected to the back of the receiver from the turntable.

Have a B&O RX-2 with mcc4 and loud hum

Possibly check the wires on the cartridge, make sure none of them are touching and are not bent to badly, are all the connections tight? some cartridges require plastic sleeves over the connections, this insure they don't touch and
avoids resistances between them. Also some cartridges are not compatible with certain model turn tables. Is it universal? Also you my need a mixer most turntables don't work with amps alone. Mine don't. Usually most models you attach the ground wire to the mixer. A mixer boosts table power and take stress off the amp. Hope this helped! good luck!

Onkyo Subwoofer Pre Out Problem

May not necessarily be the out put, discontect the sub from the receiver and see if it still makes a hum, Making sure that you turn auto on, off on the sub woffer.
If it still makes a hum, then you have a earthing problem, you can get a earth filter put on your internal wiring in your home, or you can remove the earth pin on your sub woffer
