Homelite trimmer runs, but can't run attachments very fast.

The versatool trimmer starts and runs very fast and nice when reved up without the head or any attachments, but when you put a string head or cultivator attachment on it, it won't rev up as high and spin fast enough to cut grass or do any good. Does it need a new piston ring maybe?

It sound the unit either in an overload mode or losing power when the tool attached.

What the engine size in cc? Is it easy start? Any visible oil leaks around the cynder head or else?

Does the choke set at full open when it run at max speed?

it runs good, but when i press the throttle, it will cut out, or it will only half rev

Stihl trimmer engine runs great. Lots of power. The head, however, doesn't move at all when you pull the trigger, and then will slowly start to turn. Never turns fast enough to actually cut grass.

Doesn't sound like piston and ring problem. Sounds more like the flex shaft that connects to the engine may have an end that is worn not allowing for the extra load when you connect the attachments. Check the ends of the top flex shaft.

I bought one took it back because out of the box the head would not spin with enough force to cut hot butter. It was new out of the box. I called H but held for 15 minutes. My time is worth more. The second one did the same. I am taking it back to get the Troy Built

My engine runs fine but the power is not going fully to the head on my Homelite Versatool weed whacker. what might be wrong?

The drive shaft is not seated into position properly or the shaft has broken. Have you had the shaft off recently? If so, take the shaft off again and try to seat the shaft as you gently pull on the rope.

If you have not had it apart, then the bearings may be trying to cease up where the top of the drive shaft slides into.

If you need further assistance, just let me know.

How do I adjust the idle on my Homelite Versatool UT 20811

There should be a large phillips screw on top of the carburetor. Screw clockwise to adjust the idle up, and counter clockwise to adjust it down.

Homelite gas trimmer will not run without half choke and throttle

You need to disassemble the carb. and spray with carb. cleaner. If you need tips on how to do this, just let me know. You may need a new carb. kit as well, but we won't know that until you first perform the first step, or if the carb. parts are more than 3 years old. If they are, then go ahead and buy the carb. kit and replace the parts.

Loss power Trimmer HomeLite UT20002A

Check the muffler for obstructions. Remove the muffler and check the exhaust port sometimes they are near plugged. If so remove all the crud with the cylinder in up position to prevent getting carbon in cylinder. Trimm to adjust Turn both L and H set screws clockwise until they bottom the back each one out 1 and 1/4 turn. This should allow you to start the trimmer. Then rev to max rpm and adj. the H screw to max rpm. Then set the idle with the L screw with good idle without string head turning. Then when throttled it should do so without hesitation. Once this is set you may have to fine trim the H screw for max rpm again.
