Question about Caterpillar E70B Excavator

E70b shutoff solenoid not working

The ignition will turn the excavator on but then you turn the key off and it doesn't engage the solenoid to shut the machine off. Just replaced the solenoid today. The switch is new as well. The solenoid was wired to the negative and auxiliary terminals. There was nothing wired to the positive terminal on the old one I removed.

17d excavator as it warms up I lose power in my hydrolics and they start to overi ride each other almost

this can be several things wrong , but id start by the basics , new fluid , new filter , check/clean strainers then move on to more serious things like directional control block , and pump/bypass vlv also depending on what type of spool locks you have on your directional control block vlv's , a internal leaking cylinder can do this as well

Why won't my 303.5D CR shut down with key

With an electronic shut down control there is an electric control solenoid on the pump. It requires power to keep it open and allow fuel through. If by switching it off it doesn't stop then 2 problems are indicated . The solenoid is still getting power from some where (possible faulty relay with the points stuck together) or the solenoid is stuck in the on position and not shutting off the fuel flow. Use a multimeter on the wire to the solenoid to see if you still have power with the key off. feel the solenoid and cycle the key to see if you can feel the plunger moving. With a bit of luck the solenoid may be mounted to the block and pulls on a spring loaded arm in which case the spring may be missing

Cat e70b wont start

Check the glo- plugs are working and check that the batteries are spinning the motor fast enough. Diesel engines need quick revs to heat the combustion air hot enough to ignite the diesel spray. If the engine is old you may need to have the injectors done as they have to atomise the fuel and not spray it in

1990 7.3 ford diesel wont shut down

You need to determine if the problem is in the ignition switch or the fuel shut off solenoid in the Injector pump. As you stand in front of the truck facing the engine, the wire that goes to the FRONT connector on the DRIVERS side top of the injector pump will be the shut off solenoid.

turn the key to "run" and then disconeect that wire, if it "clicks' then the problem is most likely the ignition switch. If it doesn't then run a jumper wire from the positive post of a bettery to the connection. If it clicks then the problem is the ignition switch, If it doesn't, then the solenoid has failed. the fuel shut off solenoid is available and not hard to change. Just be sure to pay attention to to the spring and how it is assembled. You can purchase the fuel shut off solenoid from mid west fuel injection, there may be other places but I know they have it. Ignition switch should be available form most any auot parts store.

Hi ,Ihave a diesel focus on a w plate, has a fly by wire bosche pump.does the fuel shut off solenoid click when ign is turned on? mine does not. I have diesel circulating through pump but not at injectors...

I think you are on the right track. The solenoid should make some kind of noise when engaged or shutt off. Be sure you have power at solenoid with key on and tap on it with something. If it dose not engage it probably is the solenoid. good luck

Where is the starter relay on a 94 Honda Accord

Yes, it sounds like your solenoid is bad and staying engaged against the flywheel, you could do an amperage draw and a voltage drop test to find out for sure, but you will need an DVOM and a amp clamp. Or you could take it into an auto parts store and they will test it for free. Hope this helps.

Engaging the Starter

Check to make sure that when you turn on ignition switch the solenoid is receiving power to engage the pinion gear and feed power to the starter motor. It is new so I suspect it is not receiving juice. U may have some bad connection causing the intermittent issue. PIA.
