I'm trying to fix an el. oven but when I screw all srews I get a short.

It's an oldy (how old I don't know) but all looks okay, but for placing the front panel as it should be. Then I get a short, which I can't explain. Who has the schematics for me? Also between load and earth I read a capacitor????? I can't see one.

Are there any plastic/acrylic/ceramic washers to isolate the threads from the body of the oven?

Testimonial: "Dear Kev, I know what you are trying to say but with my meter in 20k-ohm setting it rose and went down steadily, implying a very, very big capacitor. A few washers cannot give this effect, in my opinion. But thanks for your suggestion."

Does anyone know how to remove the outside edging from my Chef wall oven. It is an oldie,

oldies chef build ovens fr0m the 1960s

turn off the oven trip switch at the house board
make sure the oven has no power to it

best guess
oldies wont be riveted or wont have many needing drilling out
you can remove the oven door off the oven at the hinge

should be a heap of screws revealed after the door is out
and as you extract the old oven out of the cavity

that should get you started

Was baking in oven on a baking stone and inside the oven there was a flash and loud pop (what you would expect if you had metal in a microwave). Is this worth the service charge to see if it can be fixed?...

Was the baking stone resting on the element? It sounds like the element has shorted out and it should have tripped the circuit breaker and/or blown a fuse in the unit. Replacing an element is not difficult and is carried out from the inside and the back if the oven. With the power off, locate which element has blown, it will probably be the bottom one and there should be a hole at the site. Remove the back if the unit, remove the wires from the element, remove any screws that may be holding itin place, ease the element out of any clips that retain it and pull it out through the front, Refitting the new element is the reverse of the removal.

Getting F codes from oven

Normally this means the oven sensor is shorted out. Its a quick fix to remove and replace the part. Find the tube inside the oven cavity about 3-6 " in length. Take out the screw that holds it into place. Now go to back of the stove and unplug the unit. Then remove the cover on the back and look for the plug that is plugged into the sensor. Remove the old sensor and replace with a new one. Reverse steps and ya should be good to go.
