You have to check the 24vdc power supply to see if it is putting out the voltage or the backlight inverter board has failed. Disconnect the inverter board and see if the 24vdc come back.

SOURCE: Philips 47pfl7403d/27 screen blanks, i

no, this is the t-con board, some panels have the inverter built in to the panel and some have the inverter as part of the power supply board. if you see two pairs of wires with extra clear plastic sheathing comming off the power supply, then the inverters are part of the power supply board. most likely the culpret. if this does not fix it, then one or more of the lamps in the panel are shorted keeping the rest from lighting. if that is the case, you are screwed...the lamps cant be replaced, the entire panel has to be replaced.

Why does it have sound but no picture?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

Picture will not show, even when its on the correct source, and all the connections are hooked up properly.

Are you getting black screen? Still under warranty?
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

When i turn on my tv it stays on the philips screen. never goes to tv. i tried unplugging it and leaving it unplugged for an hour, no help

You give insufficient information to provide you with a more streamlined solution, so excluse me for being too brief.

What I'd do if I were you is to try and re-flash (update) the firmware in your TV.

if that doesn't help you'll likely need a new main board.

TO update the firmware you'd need the exact model of your Philips. 42PFL5603D has two versions - /F7 and /27.

The update for the first is at
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=42PFL5603D/F7&slg=en&scy=US&mid=Link_Software

The second is at
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=42PFL5603D/27&slg=en&scy=US&mid=Link_Software

Those are Philips provided and supported pages, so you should be able to find your way around there.

Hope this helps. If it does, please rate it with thumbs up - we need your votes if we can't get your money :-)

The picture wont come on but the sound will

Hello,

the picture on your TV won't come on because the picture board of your TV has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the TV to a local repairer within your vicinity, because the fault is not something you can fix yourself.

Good luck.

Red light flashing

Your TV is in Protection Mode right now. A part inside the TV has failed and the TV will not turn ON to prevent other parts from being damaged. The red light blinking is an error code for diagnosing the problem part on the one of the power supply boards. The problem boards that need to be looked at is the Backlight Inverter Board or the Main Power Supply Board.
There is a slim chance you can leave the TV unplugged for an hour so the TV can discharge and reset itself. But other than that, I would use the warranty if possible. The TV repair shop maybe expensive, so get some price quotes to see if it worth the trouble.
