'97 volvo 960, Orange W-mode arrow blinking, then lost power. What is wrong?

The usual cause of this is a bad PNP switch or gear position sensor.
The "W" is flashing because the transmission control module is stuck in the Winter mode. If you are not familiar with sensor, I suggest you go and have the transmission codes read and reset to begin with and then post back the results.

HP Pavilion Slimline s5503w will not load. Replaced CMOS battery & now, all I can get is DOS or Cmd Prompt

If you mean a flat 'blinking' Cursor at the top-left of the Display.....then the load process did not complete; it halted at the partition table which could not be found.

some causes of this : In order of likely-hood

Invalid Boot Sector (it is pointing to the wrong place,)
(if you have Win7 or 8, startup repair will usually fix this.)

Bad Read-Head on the Hard drive causing errors (must replace hard drive.)

Virus.

My PC will only go as far as the "HP Invent " screen, halting the boot process at that point. It never gets to the POST. Any recommendations.

on HP, if you seeing the Invent sign, that is the post. What you could do tho, is Unplug the Optical Device and Fixed Device Data Cables from the motherboard, also, Reset the CMOS.

Email me if you this does not work.

Getting orange flash light instead of green stable light on my dell optplex 520 and 745 what should to solve the problem

replace the power supply with a known good one. If that doesn't solve the problem then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.

Can not get the Recovery Disks to restore my system,

Ok. What you have here is:

1. A bad Hard Drive.
2. A so corrupted files due to several factors including the possible hard drive failure.

Try to remove it from the pc and mount it on another one as a secondary hard drive or better as a slave (you can find a way to do it on the web, explanation is too long). Or, get your self a Hard Drive External Enclosure and mounted on it and connected to another pc as ay External Hard Drive (to me, the external enclosure is the best choice since you can use them for different hard drives and is just a swap out procedure, pretty simple). Either way you do it, if your pc can load it up, run check disk utility for it. That, for the most part, should fix some files to let you access it and do a back up. If I was you and if you succesfully save all the stuff you want to save, I would reinstall the Operative System from scratch. If it fails to install or gives you problems after the fresh install, get a new Hard Drive. Good luck.

P.S.: If my explanation helped you, please leave a review.
