  • Install "Repair Battery Life PRO" from Google Store, start the application, tap on Start, review the Health status of your battery.
  • If battery health status is "Good", there is a battery drain from an application behaving bad. Best method includes backup-ing your photos, contacts and other important things to your external memory SD-Card. You can use "Super Backup & Restore" from Google Store for that purpose. After backup, pullout your SD-Card and revert your phone to factory setting. After restart reinstall "Super Backup & Restore" and restore everything from it. After installing apps that you have been used, you will see the program that misbehaves.
  • If battery health status is not stated as "Good", replace battery with a new one

I had the poor status with the old battery in my laptop now i replaced it with the new one and I fully charged it but the battery health status is still poor

You can try to save battery time by changing your laptop to work in balanced mode, or just adjust the screen brightness lower. Screen takes a lot of power.

Batteries have a life expectancy. Using HP Battery Check, you can determine if your battery is in good condition or needs to be replaced. You can download HP Battery Check from here - click this link

Download and run the software on your PC. Run a test, just follow the on screen instructions and it should tell you the current health status of your battery and what you need to do.

Hope this help. Goodluck!

The battery light flashes alternately blue and amber everytime i turn on my inspiron 1420 (even when cool). I've done a health check using the check button on the battery. Indicates battery status fine and...

Hi justlai33

Not to worry, it is a normal process when any laptop is started. It first check if it is connected to power and starts charging if connected to power.

As far as battery life status is good and fine, you can continue working on your laptop.

You will get a pop of notification when the battery life about to end, till then you can work with out any tension.

Thank you

Solution 1) Set the system cooling policy to "active"
Windows has two approaches to fan control - "active" or "passive". The default option is passive, but if you switch it to active instead then the fan will turn on more frequently. You can do this by following these steps:
  1. Left click the battery icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen (See image)
  2. Left click More power options (See image)
  3. Click Change plan settings next to the Balanced power settings (See image)
  4. Click Change advanced power settings (See image)
  5. Click the + next to Processor Power Management (See image)
  6. Click the + next to System Cooling Policy (See image)
  7. Change Passive to Active for both Plugged in and On battery (See image)
  8. Do the same for any other modes you use, such as power saving mode
  9. Restart the computer

Solution 2) Keep Toshiba PC Health Monitor open
Some of the comments below sing the praises of PC Health Monitor. Apparently, the laptop fan will work harder when PC Health Monitor is open.
PC Health Monitor is already preinstalled on Toshiba computers. To open the program, just press the Windows key to open the Start menu, start typing "PC Health Monitor", and the program should appear in the search results. Click on it to open it.

The laptop will only work on the mains cable

perform battery health test according to the operating system you are using.

for vista:

1. Click on start or windows logo (pearl) button.
2. Click on HP Help and Support.
3. Click on troubleshooting steps and then Battery.

XP:

Please run the following softpack on your notebook to check the battery health:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32001-32500/sp32299.exe

Windows 7:

1. Click Start and select HP Support Assistant .
2. On the HP Support Assistant window, select Troubleshoot , and then select Power, Thermal, and Mechanical .
3. Click Battery Check to examine your battery and display the results of your battery status check.

The current state of the battery (charging or discharging) is displayed.

Then you will be knowing what the exact issue is. If the battery health test fails you can replace it.

Power light blink orange 4 times, 1 green?

My guess is that the battery is worn-out -- no longer accepting a charge, nor holding a charge. Replace the battery, or find a specialty business that "refurbishes" batteries (by opening the case, replacing the cells, and re-sealing the case).

Battery check seems to work only with the factory shipped battery. To make sure your battery has enough retention capacity, do a manual drain check.

My hp laptop battery shows 100% but will not power up the computer

If you are using a dv series pavilion Notebook and is preinstalled with Windows XP, you need to download the HP Battery Health Check utility from the link below and run in the Notebook to know the status of the Battery :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41862.exe

Follow the instructions to perform Battery Check in the Notebook :
Insert the AC power adapter into the notebook PC and plug directly into a wall outlet.

Click StartAll Programs, then click Hewlett-PackardHP Battery Check.

If the Battery health status is good, I recommend you to check with updating the BIOS by checking with the Product Number of the Notebook.
