Question about JVC Video Cameras
I just replace the batteries on my Sony IC BX700 recorder, but now when I record, I get either the "err 01" or "err 01" error message. What is going on?
Are the power cells identical in every way to the old cells? Any variation can be a problem. Evidently the cells are in correctly or you would not get any message; so this may be related to a circuit board issue. A continuity test would locate the source, and if you do not have test equipment; take it to a camera shop for service.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Basically, the error message indiactes the reels are not turning, either because of a defective tape or a fault in the mechanism. Try a new tape. If the problem persists, you will have to have the camcorder serviced. please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

When you open the door you will see 2 metal tabs that are sensors to that are pushed by 2 plastic tabs on the door that push on the metal tabs to let the camera know the door is shut. For whatever reason these tabs are not pushed up enough and I triggered them by sticking something in there to make contact. I used the end of a toothpick for now. May be primative but it works for now and I may look for a method to make it permanant but at least my camera works now

the error c:31:23 error pertains to one of the reel (part that turns the tape) is malfunctioning. although you can play back videos, you would definitely have issue w/ recording, rewinding or fast forwarding the tape.what you can do is to turn the camcorder off.remove the battery and ac adapter for at least a minute.insert the battery or reconnect the adapter.you can also try pressing the reset button (located near the top of the speaker, on the panel where lcd screen goes to).make sure cam is on when you do that.if still your getting this problem, service would be needed for your cam.hope this helps :)
