Tv won't turn on

I have a GPX 23 inch TDE2382B tv and it won't turn on. I have only used a hand full of time times and the last time it was used was when I put it into my nephew's room so that he could watch tv that night and the next day, it wouldn't turn on. I have no clue what is going on and I have followed all the proper directions for using the tv.

Are you using a remote, or try to turn on manually. If your remote does not work, it needs to be programed to your t.v. And all remotes and t.v.s have different codes. Sometimes your cable provider will help you program your remote, or reset your cable box. My remote for my cable was not programmed, so I had to read the instructions myself to get the remote to work with the cable box channels.

SOURCE: Code for Direct TV remote control

Program AV1 with 20695, program TV with 10765, then switch to AV1, press select/mute, enter 933, and press select

This will allow volume and mute controls while in DTV mode and allow power on and off while in TV mode. This worked for me on the RC32 remote control.

Best of luck

Is your antenna "omni" or "uni" directional? "Omni" means you won't have to aim the antenna but "uni" antennas have to be pointed in the direction the nearest tower/s. You'll want to go to AntennaWeb.org and enter your address. This will show you locations and distances of TV towers in your area. My location is over 39 miles from any tower so I get virtually no reception with regular HD antenna. If your more than 20 miles you'll need to get a fairly high gain antenna and have to aim it in the direction of the TV tower.

unplug the tv and the direct cable box reset the box by plugging both the tv and box back in. MAKE SURE the tv is set on the right input for the box first. if the tv said to do auto scan then you lost the connection from the box either by changing the input that box is connected to if by a cable its usually 3 or 4. if by hdmi or rca cables its an input channel. also make sure not cables are loose try that first before unplugging the tv let me know

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.Surf the site with patience.Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs.The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory ResetF (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

If the screen goes normal I wouldnt worry about it too much. I would definitely have it looked at as soon as possible. Sounds like a power problem inside.

We have a new 60 inch LED Sharp TV. Will an APC #BN600R battery backup, 600 VA 360 watts, handle a power outage or surge for this TV and a Dish network DVR??

Hello,
Yes this UPS will protect the TV and the DVR.
The TV is pretty energy efficient, and uses just under 100watts powered on. The DVR uses under 30 watts, so under heavy load you won't go over 150 watts if just these two devices are plugged into the battery backup side of the UPS. I'm not sure how long this UPS battery last's in a power outage, but since you are not using it to the full 360 watts, you should get double time out of it, though of course, its best to power off your devices as soon as you can. Regards, Chris

Hi
A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your Tv and look at the power supply on the left hand side.

You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.
Hope this helps

Tv won't switch to "tv"

Your T.V. is programmed to store the last input you've selected. You have to manually switch it back to your T.V. channel input after each time you switch it to HDMI or any other input even when you turn it off. The "Source" or "Input" button on your original T.V. remote will change this.

I have a 32 inch tv, the picture only shows 23 inches

This is the tv station only broadcasting a certain size for the video. One way you can fix this is going into the menu and looking at zoom options. I use it all the time on my tv. If this doesn't work, call your cable company or your tv's manufacturer.
