Check print path error after belt replacement (HP 1055)

Printer was working fine, but the belt wore out, so we replaced it. However, now on startup we consistently are getting the "Check printhead path (Type 1)" error. On startup, the printhead is starting to move very slowly as usual to find the sides of the print path. It moves to the far right, and then to the far left. At this point the print head should start moving at regular speed, but an awful LOUD noise is heard and the error occurs. The noise comes from the right, and I assume it is from the engine slipping under the belt. It is almost like the printhead is completely stuck. However, if I shut off the printer and try moving the printhead manually, it moves fine and is not stuck. Also lubricated the rails, checked the clutch, but all to no avail. The error also occurs when I startup without any printheads installed, so I assume the height is also not the problem here. Any suggestions?

The problem is either the belt is installed backwards, or the trailing cable is not tensioned properly and rubbing the top of the rail, or the tube system is bound in the track. Check and reseat these three things, and I am sure you will find the issue. Don't forget to lubricate the slider rods.

SOURCE: check printhead path

Check for free carriage motion by unplugging the printer while the carriage is in the print area of the plotter. Open the top cover and move the carriage to check for free movement. If there are rubber crumbs under the belt, the belt is worn out and needs to be replaced. Manual can be downloaded from: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm

On my HP 1050C Designjet I am getting the error 'Check printhead path Type 2. Then it says to switch off.

Hello. The "Check Print Head Path" error is usually a worn out carriage belt on printers more than 5 years old. Open the top cover and examine the area under the belt and look for debris that looks like pencil erasure crumbs. Other possible problems could be the tube system catching on something as the carriage moves, the encoder strip being very dirty or extreme friction between the carriage bushings and the rails they move on. If the belt needs to be replaced, a replacement kit can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-790-hp-designjet-belt-replacement-kits.aspx
Hope this helps.

I have problem with my 5500 hp: check printhead path 2

The most common cause of the Check Print Head Path Error 2 is a worn out carriage belt. Open the top cover and locate the carriage belt. It is the long thin belt that extends the full length of the plotter. Use a light and look under the belt for debris that looks like pencil erasure crumbs. If the crumbs are there, the belt is disintegrating and needs to be replaced. See: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-732-designjet-5000-5500-belt.aspx

DESIGNJET 755cm ERROR MESSAGE: TURN OFF PLOTTER CHECK PAPER PATH. THERE IS NO OBVIOUS BLOCKAGE TO PAPER PATH

If there is no obvious obstruction in the print head path, the most likely problem is a worn carriage belt. Open the front lid and check for rubber crumbs under the carriage belt. If there are crumbs, the belt is disintegrating and needs to be replaced.

The service manual can be downloaded from: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm and the parts are available at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/c-736-designjet-1050c-belt.aspx

There's an error appears. It was error number 86

86.01 can be a couple of issues pertaining to the movement of the carriage assembly.
1. Too much friction in the Slider Rod. Lubricate the slider rod.
2. The Carriage is bumping into the Service Station. If the carriage
is stuck at the right hand side of the Printer and cannot be moved
out to the center of the Print Platen it is because the Service
Station cannot uncap the Printheads. In this case replace the
Service Station/Aerosol Fan Assembly.
3. Check the carriage belt for wear. Check the carriage path for debris. If the belt is worn, replace the belt. Also, clean the teeth on the carriage drive motor, the debris from the belt will accumulate on the teeth.

Printer error code 5952 - ?

From the service manual:

An error occurred with the magenta printcartridge drive motor during startup or rotation.

To fix:

1. Check that connectors J5003 on the magenta print-cartridge drive motor and J207 on the DC controller are seated correctly. If they are then:
2. Replace the magenta print-cartridge drive motor. If that doesn't work then:
3. Replace the DC controller.

Switch power off check printhead (1)

Good morning. The CHECK PRINT HEAD PATH error is caused by the sensors on the print head carriage sending signals to the electronics that the carriage speed is incorrect. Generally, this is a mechanical problem caused by an obstruction, such as a paper jam or some other item in the paper path. However, the most common reason for the error is a worn out carriage belt. Look under the belt to see if there is debris resembling pencil erasure crumbs. If the crumbs are present, your belt is disintegrating and needs to be replaced.
