SOURCE: flymo petrol mower starts but

Probably needs the carburetter cleaned out. Smell a lot of petrol? could be flooding out. Starts up but dies. No smell of excess petrol? Fuel line clogged at tank inlet, rust? Other crud? Gas gets to carb, engine starts then runs out of fuel. I dont know the flymo carb, but generally...
Start by removing the bowl under the carb, 2-3 screws. Youll need to remove the air filter box first. You should find a float tank which operates a needle valve. This can be released by popping out a pin pivot. DO NOT LOSE THE NEEDLE VALVE which will come out with it. A pointed stem which closes the fuel as the float rises. If you see a lot or just a little crud around here, that can be the problem. Clean it out with carb cleaner spraying up into the where the needle seats, also spray into every opening you see. Carefully replace the needle and float. The needle generally snaps into or is locked into the float loosely, then pin the float back in place while guiding the stem back into its hole. Replace the bowl and try to start it.
Good luck

Why wont my Flymo qs 46sd rev ?

does it have a throttle cable fitted?? you really dont need an idle as as soon as you release the opc or dead mans handle it will cut out anyway. engine should be reving at 3000-3100 rpm. if this mower has a briggs and stratton engine fitted, remove the air filter and check the spring and linkege is still attached to the air vane govenor

I need to get to carbaretta to clean but cant lift petrol tank due to petrol pipe connected. how do i turn off petrol

there is no valve to turn off on modern bikes. you will have to syphon off petrol into a safe container and can pinch hose with a small pair of mole grips or bend hose back 180 degrees and put a rubber band on

Hi

There is a good chance (amongst other things) that the EGR valve is stuck open. It can easily be removed and cleaned.

However, the engine management light is the way forward. Have a code read done and it will point you in the right direction.

Regards

Geordie
