If what you downloaded an '.iso' file, you need special software burn this "image" of the DVD's files, byte-for-byte, onto a blank DVD-media disk.

Search for "Ashampoo Burning Edition free edition" for good and FREE software for imaging your ISO file to a blank DVD.

Can a computor using XP windows still be updated

you could use the hack from here:
http://www.zdnet.com/registry-hack-enables-continued-updates-for-windows-xp-7000029851/

but there is a notice from Microsoft about the reliability of the hack.

if your machine has a dvd burner you should switch to a Linux distribution, I am favoring Zorin since it has a Windowsy look and feel. get it from here: http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=zorin
if you go with Linux you can test it out by just running the os from the dvd. make sure you backup before you install since that would wipe everything on the hard drive.

Sony vaio vgn sz430n drivers

If your Win7 or 8 disks are bootable OS disks and not upgrades, placing one in the DVD/CD drive after setting the boot sequence to DVD/CD drive first, will run. Drivers are available from Sony, com

How to format.please explain the procedure

You have to format a hard drive with a third party disk unless its a usb data drive
Restart your computer
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup usually the Delete or the F2 key but will differ depending on your computer and Bios.
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS then using the arrow keys navigate to advanced bios features press enter change your first boot device to cd press escape then press f10 to save to cmos restart
this will erase you operating system you will have to have an operating system disk to load it onto you hard drive or create a partition to load another operating system.
Note: After you have loaded the operating system you should go back and change the first boot device to failsafe or optimised defaults after windows has loaded
If you are putting windows XP on your computer your computer will automatically restart it might restart 2 times one to finish the installation
the next will be because the operating system is loaded and will boot from your cd\dvd.
or if you are using a USB
insert your usb drive
click start right click on my computer select open you should see your USB drive
right click then select format
another way is to control panel administrative tools, computer management disk management right click on your drive select format

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND

If your computer cannot access the disk-drive, or if the Operating System on the disk cannot be loaded, then your computer will try to boot from an "alternative" device, namely your CD/DVD drive, assuming that a "bootable" disk (such as Windows 7) has been loaded into the optical drive.

So, first, check that your disk-drive is "detected" and then "working".

Trying to load packard bell ,its formated hard drive ,next screen i have c:\ what do i put to continue

The system is trying to boot from the C drive i,e, the HDD, you need to continue after formatting from the CD/DVD.

Presumable it initially booted from the disk and you went through the procedure wizard of telling the computer to install a fresh copy of the operating system deleting any existing operating systems, and you didn't ask it to partition the disk and retain the OS that was originally on the HDD.

After formatting it should continue to install the OS on the drive you specified from the CD/DVD disk.

Start again you have nothing to lose as the HDD is now formatted and all previous information is lost, but this time read the screens that come up carefully.

One final point you did put the disk in then power up the computer didn't you????? not put the disk in and try and re install.

The computer has to be booted from the disk.

Error loading operating system

When this error pops up, it normally means you must reload your Operating System off of the disks that came with your computer. Put Disk 1 in the drive and restart the computer. Hold the F12 key down and select the DVD as boot device. Follow prompts to reinstall the Operating system. Good luck !!!

How do I reformat my computer, because it will not boot up for me to be able to erase the data on it?

Hi,
If you bought the netbook brand new then in the box you should have a Windows XP Home install disk.
Now because you have not got an optical drive (CD/DVD) in the computer you will need to get yourself an external CD/DVD drive and connect it up to the computer. Pop the disk in the drive and restart your computer. Hit F12 as the computer starts up and select the external drive as the first boot drive. Then you can proceed to re-format and reinstall the operating system.

If your computer has Linux as the operating system you should have a Ubuntu install disk in the box. If you don't you can download the disk free, you are just going to have to use another computer to download Ubuntu and burn it to a disk. Just follow the instruction to boot from the external CD/DVD drive to install it.
Get Ubuntu here >>>>>>
