Question about HP Compaq 8200 Elite Convertible Minitower Desktop PC Save
I don't mean to sound stupid, but how do you know the PSU is functional if the motherboard wont fire up? The power supply has to have a load on it before it will test positive. You could disconnect everything from the PSU and put a large 10k resistor in place of the power connection to simulate a load. Does the mobo have an LED Activity light when it is connected? Have you previously worked on this computer? Is the mobo properly grounded? Have you looked for any signs of a resistor or other electrical component having failed?. There can be numerous reasons why you are having problems. I would need a more detailed explanation of the events leading up to the problem and a better description of the equipment and the environment.

What type of motherboard do you have?? Brand and model. After you find it out search the web for a manual. Then open up your pc check the cables which go from PSU to Motherboard and check if they are connected properly (See on manual the correct positions ) :D . Hope i helped

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty
One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to boot
Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA
the leads from your motherboard to your hard drive make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
