Question about Fuji FinePix S5200 / S5600 Digital Camera

Fuji finepix S5600 won't take pictures

I recently took my camera out of storage, and am having problems with it. It was fine before hand. If I turn the switch to playback mode, I can view pictures successfully. However, if I switch to camera mode, it will not take photographs. I have replaced the batteries, which it seems to be using at a much faster rate than I recall. (Like, 20-30 mins). Sometimes the camera screen remains lit and shows an image when it is in camera mode, however as soon as I try to take a picture, it turns off and the screen goes black. I would like to resolve this, as it used to be a very good camera, and cost me more than I would normally spend. Any assistance greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I found that the camera worked again when 5V external supply was plugged in. This was fine for indoor stuff, but a bit limiting outdoors, so I bought a 4AA holder from Jaycar (maybe Radio Shack for you) and the appropriate plug, a quick solder, load with 4 AA rechargeables and I"m back in business. Looks like crap, but works.

A possible solution could be found in the menu of the camera. Scroll through the menu and look for any dropdown menu that deals with mode and see if the correct mode is selected.

SOURCE: Camera switches off when I press the shoot button

Are you using NiMH rechargable batteries? Digital caemras are real battery eaters and Nickel Metal Hydride batteries are the only ones that can stand up to the drain. Buy ones with the highest power rating yu can get. If this doesn't help, then the power board has started to fail and needs replacing.

SOURCE: Fuji FinePix F30 shutter problem: won't take pictures

Its fairly easily fixed and its a common problem with the F30. The shutter button contact slides off upon impact when dropped, it must be re-aligned so that it makes proper contact and performs normally. All that is needed is the special screw driver for the F30 (easily purchased online, just google it: "screw driver for fuji f30" ) or bring it to your local watch/jewelry repair store and tell them to open it up for you.

We have two F30's and they both have been dropped, both did the same thing with the shutter button. But both were easily fixed. Always keep the camera in a safe place and away from kids, they are very sensitive devices. Use the wrist cord when taking photos.

Driver/software needed for fuji S5600 for windows 7

You don't need a driver.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Try to use you camera to format the card maybe it will be get better, else you can use a card reader to read the card and see if it's all right, or you can try to use the card with other cameras and see if it's OK. It seems your card you have used well for some time, so it won't be the wrong card type. Else you have to check if the card is one of the types which your camera support

I hate answering a question with a question but can't see a way around this. Are you using the camera to download pictures to the computer? If so what you need to do is purchase a card reader and I would suggest a card reader that does many different memory card types.

What this card reader does is steps completely around your camera and downloads pictures directly to your computer.

The Card Reader plugs into a USB port on your computer and looks at the reader (once the memory card is inserted) like an external mass storage device or external hard drive.

You then download the pictures from the reader/memory card to a file you create on your computer.

The nice thing about this is that it won't matter what camera you have or memory card you use the camera is no longer in the flow of pictures downloaded to the computer.

After the pictures are on the computer you can put the memory card back in the camera and "Format" the card this function is normally found in the set up menu.
