Water leak from freezer lower door on Jenn Air side by side

I used similar problems info on my leak. I di-assembled the rear panel and poured hot water in the tray. I found everal problem. Firt the bottom of the tray sits in a rubber bushing that hold the drain tube. THe tray was not sitting tight to the bushing causing a leak. I put a brass fitting between the left edge of the tray and the side of the coil sheild that pushed the tray down, to hold a better seal. The water wa not flowing so I pulled the other end of the drain tube loose. I then took a short peice of electric cord approx. 1/4'' diameter and puhed it up from the bottom. Here came the blockage and the water!
I also and more important, found the drain tube sagging before it turn and goe under the refrigerator side where it drain into the catch pan. There was water being held in the sagging tube like a water trap holds water. This may have held the water until it had a chance to freeze. I straghted the tube by pulling it closer to the pan area.
All is well.
Thanks and I hope this helps the next guy.

Allen, Your post is interesting but I and everyone would like to know the model that you worked on. It's not you, but almost 90 percent of the people leave their model and make out of their post. Let me know what model Jen Air you worked on. You have me curious now, Thanks, Sea Breeze

JENN AIRE LEAKING WATER ON FLOOR. NOT SUPPLY LINE PROBLEM. HELP

Open freezer, remove lower crisper & look for solid ice on freezer floor & area at rear of freezer. If present, defrost drain is restricted. Depending on make & model remove ice, remove rear wall and clear defrost drain trough and drain path. Verify by removing kick panel, pour a cup of near boiling water through drain and watch as it drains into pan. Once clear, pour one ounce of bleach into drain tube. Also check as water is draining into pan that the pan is not leaking due to pan cracks. This solution is based on the fact that you are stating no hoses are bad.

I have a 15 year old Jenn Air Fridge/freezer Model no JRSD249OT . Recently side of doors feel hot and now fridge not getting cold. Appreciate any advice

You will need to pull the fridge out and remove the rear lower panel. If the unit is operating you will be looking to see that the fan in the rear is also operating. Most likely it is not. You will need to replace that fan motor if it is not.

Water collects and freezes in bottom of Kenmore freezer of side-by-side freezer/refrigerator

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking down the vent instead of the drain hole...If you need any further assistance please feel free to comment again. good luck! P.s Please don't forget to rate my solution thanks!

HELP WITH WATER LEAK??

If you have turned the water off and it is still leaking out of the freezer side you may have a plugged drain. the drain is there as part of the defrost system to keep modern refrigerators frost free. When the machine goes into defrost and the heater in the freezer comes on it drains out the drain to a pan underneath and the heat from the compressor and the condenser fan underneath the unit evaporate it and the whole process starts all over again. every once in a while something will plug the drain on the bottom of the inside of the freezer side and when the heater kicks on to defrost the refrig the water cant go anywhere but to the bottom of the freezer and seeps out the front at the bottom of the door between the gasket and the refrig. check the drain...because if you have turned off the water and it is still showing up this could very well be your problem. Take the bottom shelves out of the freezer and look to the back and bottom at the middle sometimes you can see the drain and sometimes you have to remove the thin metal panel covering the back bottom half of the freezer,....inspect the drain hole and remove any obstructions or ice build up. if need be pour hot water into the drain to melt any ice that could be causing the obstruction to the drain. and the hot water should drain out of the frige.Write me back and let me know if I can help you further....

My jenn air side by side has water puddling in the bottom of the freezer section. I turn off the water supply going to the icemaker etc. still puddles. Is their a condensation line that could be clogged...

sounds like a drain clog in the freezer compartment above. remove the freezer rear panel and totally defrost the evaporator area, directly under the evap you see( under all taht ice) a small drain hole that has become frozen over, try defrosting with either a hair dryer( not a heat gun too much heat youl melt everything) or by pouring hot water donw the drain until you get a free flow of water down the tube. after its clear reassemble and you should be fine

Leaking water under frig and ice-maker is not hooked up?

The problem you are experiencing is normally a blocked evaporator drain line. Whether you have a side by side model or a top mount freezer the solution is relatively the same. Most top mount freezer models have a rear evaporator panel covering the aluminum evaporator coils. There are some instances where the evaporator coils are on the floor. These instructions are for top mount freezers where the rear freezer panel covers the evaporator coils. First of all, if there is an ice maker in your unit, this will have to be removed. Normally there are two screws which can be loosened and the body of the ice maker can be lifted off the screws leaving only a plug in harness to disconnect. Remove the harness either from the plug at the left wall or rear of the freezer and set it to the side. Next, remove all the screws securing the rear panel. Remove the rear panel exposing the aluminum evaporator coils. Be careful not to damage these coils as they contain the freon that cools your refrigerator. If you look closely underneath these coils, there will be ice from frozen defrosted water. Using a hair dryer and not a heat gun, melt all the ice and sop up the water with a towel. Now you will see a drain hole which is normally still blocked with ice. Pour hot water in this hole and sop it up. Keep doing this until you pour water down the hole and it drains into the evaporator drain pan either under or behind your refrigerator. Once you have unblocked this drain line, reassemble and plug the refrigerator back in. Set all controls to the middle settings and within 24 hours, your unit will be functioning correctly once again. If you need further assistance, we are here. Eric Campion
