I havea unit that has locked up with disc 4 still in the machine...I am not sure how to get the disc back into the 12 disc cartridge. It is locked up. No power getting to the unit, the unit is not showing up with my reciever. I have a Pioneer DEH-P560MP Premier reciver in the dash and the CDX-P1280 unit in the trunk. I have a dodge intrepid 2000. Any thought on if this could be a fuse issue? Who do you go to for repair for these units or are they disposable? Toss it and get a new one? How do I get the CD's out?

    Thanks

    Stan

I have the same problem. I bought it brand new, was working fine and one day I noticed I could not select it on my head unit. I checked the wiring, the fuse, everything is fine. My wife has a Pioneer Premier 6 disc changer so I plugged mine in her car, and still not sign of life. I opened the changer's case and there's no way I can figure out what part of the circuit board is not working. May be this is the diffrence between the regular Pioneer and Pioneer Premier line. Her changer is at least at least 2 years older than mine. I'm guessing there's not really any easy fix solution unless I find an electrical engineer or something.

Yeah I'm having a similar issue. I have the CDX-P1280 changer connected to a DEH-P6200 (I think) head unit. Everything had been working great for years, then the other day I couldn't select the CD changer as a source on my head unit. It would just switch between the tuner and the built-in CD player.

My CD changer is getting power, and I can load and eject the magazine with no problem. Normally, when you insert a magazine it loads each disc, starting from the bottom, and reads the CD-TEXT info (even if the car is off). You can hear each disc get loaded, spin up, and then I always hear a faint sound that lets me know that it worked. Now that the changer isn't detected by the head unit, I hear the same sequence of sounds, but after the I hear a soft . I take it as an error sound (it's not a mechanical buzzing -- it's digitized).

    Does anyone have any thoughts?

Pioneer CDX-1280 is very good cd changer. I highly recommend.
most problem of cd changer, when the grease dried up / soidefied it will stock up..

Solution:
just apply little grease (lubricant) to all moving mechanical parts.

How do I instert a CD into my pioneer deh-p6200 car radio?

Slide the door open (1/2 gray 1/2 silver door) on the disc changer, inside is a push button that ejects the 6 disc cartridge. Load and unload cd's into it.

Pioneer cdx P1280 error11

pnoman: Your code means an electrical/mechanical failure. Follow this: 1. If the cartridge is stucked try to force it out slowly with a fine screwdriver. 2. Once is out or if already out without forcing it, remove all remaining CD's. 3. Insert a laser lens CD cleaner. 4. Clean it at least 3 times. 5. The unit must be disconnected from the 12V signal to be reset it at least 5 minutes, then reconnect. 6. If problem re-appears repeat procedure once more. If problems still, your laser lens is damaged and need replacement. Probably from $40.00 to $55.00. SithPitt
