Question about Toshiba Qosmio X505Q880 (PQX33U01J00H) PC Notebook
My video card don't work anymore(nvidia gts360m) so I am wondering if I can use video card on mainboard.I think there is a chip on it.I took the gts360m out of the laptop and I tried to turn it on but I couldn't get anything on the screen.Normally I am guessing that I must use onboard video card chip.Hope someone can help me with this issue..Thanks
If the card is sort of like a desktop video card then you by a a replacement. if the video card is integrated in the motherboard there are some companies that promise to replace it. Not an east task and price range is 90 to 15o US dollars.
If you can see video on an external monitor then the GPU is ok.

This is usually caused by the cable that connects the LCD to the system board coming loose.
On this model, you can pop off the shiny black cover with three silver buttons on it above the keyboard. You will see a plug under there with about 25 multi-colored wires coming out of the connector. Carefully pull the connector off and then plug it back in.
If this doesn't fix it, try gently wiggling the plug with the laptop on and see if the picture changes quality at all. If it does, then the port on the system board may have gone bad.

SOURCE: Toshiba wont power on
From what you have told us, I would suspect that something got jiggled or joggled during the opening and putting back together process. I've done that to myself, in the past. ;o)
What I do in a case like this is as follows:
1-Power down and remove the battery (Leave the battery out until you get it running again)
2-Open it back up and disconnect and reconnect each and every cable and connector that I can find.
3-Remove and reseat the memory module(s)
4-Try to power back up.
If this doesn't do it, get back to me for some more diagnostics/ideas.

To determine if your video card is faulty, connect an external monitor to the laptop, power up the monitor first and then the laptop.
The video data will automatically switch to the external monitor and if you see a normal image then the video card is OK and the fault maybe the video cable, it may need reseating.
If the image still has the strips, the same as the LCD screen then the fault is most likely the video card or video RAM..
On some laptops video RAM uses part of the main memory modules, reseat the RAM modules and if this doesn't fix the problem then the fault is the video card. This very difficult be fixed becaused it is part of the motherboard.

This may or may not be of some help. http://www.laptopka.com/2006/04/12/remove-replace-video-board/
Usually with laptops you have to replace the mobo but looks like there may be a possibility (slim one) that the card can be replaced, however I could not find anything as far as parts to get to replace just the video card so its looking more and more like the whole mobo would need to be replaced.

It is not a driver or video card problem. It is the monitor.
To be sure plug a full size desktop monitor into your laptops monitor jack. Every laptop has one. If the picture doesn't turn yellow that will confirm that your LCD is bad.
