the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)

You may now have corrupted firmware. did the dvd contain the firmware update?
Are you sure there wasn't already a cd in the tray? (Ie two cd's are now inside?
The easiest way to remove the cd if turning off fails is to remove the screws around the casing. Lift off the lid and the cd should come out easily, however if the update was corrupt or the wrong firmware you may now have a dead player.
Try removing the Cd as described first with the power off and plug removed.
Then see if the unit powers up and the drawer opens.
If so you may be able to revert it to its original firmware from the vendors site.

SOURCE: Magnavox NB500MG9 BluRay Player
A Blu-ray player can play DVD or CD and still not play Blu-ray. It may play Blu-ray but not CD or DVD, or burned discs. This is all caused by the 'optical' a part that reads the disc in the machine. Your player will need service as a Blu-ray optic cannot just be 'dropped' into a player.

SOURCE: connecting dvd to tv
Yes. The manual, a quick start guide and other documentation are available here:
The DVD player has Component video out, AV Video out (RCA jacks - red and white for audio and yellow for video), and HDMI out. The Component video and AV video are close to each other; the HDMI jack is to the right on the back panel next to the LAN (RJ-45) jack. If needed, the manual for your TV may also be online.
I hope this helps.

SOURCE: my lg bd50 is able
blue ray players takes one to two minute to read the content. it will not read as fater as dvd. give some time and then find out what the player says. error or no disc. also check ur BD's region and the region of the disc u inserted. BD's comes with only one region.

There is no region hack for this player, not even for the DVD only (see LG BD660 region code - VideoHelp.com , along with previous Fixya threads and similar)
The only way to make it region free is by desoldering and replacing the chip. That would be expensive and will invalidate warranty.
Sorry to bear bad news but I hope that this will save you some times.
