Suggestion:
Create a folder on the C: drive named Drivers. Under the C:\Drivers\ folder create a sub-folder named Sound. When you download the sound driver - download it into C:\DRIVERS\SOUND.
* * You could follow the above process for all your driver downloads, such as Video. Once you have all the drivers downloaded within the C:\Drivers folder - Burn them all to CD or USB key for safe storage.
Okay once the download has completed, you will need to browse to the folder and unzip the driver download file. Then run the install/setup routine.

Hi,
I just bought an HP Monitor (HP 2009m)and like so many other people who complian of low sound (barely audible) I suspect the sound card on the older Dell Optilex is the problem. Would appreciate any advice on this subject.
Thanks in advance,
Espirito
Ps It seems that the only port that produces sound is a line out with no umph to drive built in monitor speakers.
