Yahoo.com tells me that my password has expired. What do I need to do?

If you ever find yourself with a locked Yahoo account, it's likely due to multiple incorrect password attempts.

As a security measure, Yahoo's email and chat client servers automatically lock your account to prevent unauthorized access after there have been multiple invalid password entries.

The ID Lock security measure safeguards a Yahoo account from unauthorized users who try to access your account without permission.Cause

After multiple incorrect password entries to a Yahoo account, the server automatically sets a lock on it.
This happens because every time a Yahoo Account holder logs into his account, he's logged in with a cookie.

A cookie is an information packet that proves you are the valid account holder.
However, when a person tries to access an account with many failed attempts, the cookies expires, triggering the ID lock on the account.
24-Hour Wait

A Yahoo account holder must wait up to 24 hours before accessing the account again.
The lock on the account expires within 24 hours from the time the account was locked.

Unlock Using Another Server Since Yahoo! has many servers around the world, a user can log into his account by visiting a different Yahoo server address. (See Below.)
http://thingsaboutcomputer.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-unlock-yahoo-when-account-is.html

Copy and paste a Yahoo! server URL into the address bar of your Internet browser to access the website.
Enter the Yahoo! ID and password in their respective fields, and click on "Log in" to access your yahoo account.
Avoid Yahoo Account Locks
To prevent future Yahoo! account locks, a user should limit the number of times he tries to enter a password.

If an account holder has forgotten his password, he should use the "Forgot Passsword" feature to reset the password.

Locked password

Locked Password where? Bios Password? Hard Drive Password? Windows User Account (userid) Password? And which operating system?

If it's the Bios Password, then you will need to remove the CMOS Battery and let the computer sit for a couple of hours. Then put the battery back in and try rebooting. You'll have to go back into the BIOS or Setup to put the correct date and time in but the password should be gone from memory.

If it's the Hard Drive Password, you're kinda out of luck. Hard drives are locked 99% of the time when the computer is stolen. The original owner either locked it while he had possession of it or he could have locked it remotely when it was stolen to keep thieves from getting to sensitive data. The only way around it is to have the original put the password in, or Purchase a new hard drive to put in the computer, reload the operating system, reload the drivers and reload application programs.

If it's the Windows Password for User Account turn off the computer, then turn it on and immediately start hitting the F8 key until you see the SAFE MODE Option. Take the Safe Mode option to boot the computer. When it comes to the login screen it will show you the Administrator account and the Account for which you forgot or don't know the password. Log into the Administrator account (hopefully you didn't password protect it and forgot it). When windows desktop comes up click Start/Control Panel/User Accounts. When the User Accounts window opens up click on the User Account for which you forgot the password then select Remove Password. Reboot the machine

How do I lock my computer from my child without risking me not being able to get back in please? In fact I don't know how to lock my computer in any event.

You can create a Vista password recovery disk to reset your password. Follow this 5 easy steps:

1. Enter a computer that can link to Internet. Search "windows password recovery tool" in Google. Download and install the software on that computer.

2. Run the software and create windows password reset disk by follow the instructions.

3. Eject the created CD/DVD and insert it into the locked computer.

4. Reboot the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your locked computer's BIOS setting to make it boot from CD drive) and then follow the instructions to recover vista password.

5. Now login Windows and set a new password.

Windows xp pro logon error message "unable to log you on because your account has been locked out"

Hey!
If your computer is a part of a business network, you should contact the network administrator so he/she would setup or reconfigure your user account correctly.

If it's a home computer, you'll have to log on as Administrator to unlock your account. To do so:
  1. Click Start -> Log off (user name).
  2. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice.
  3. Type Administrator in the user name and fill in the Administrator account's password. Leave blank if there isn't any.
  4. Once logged in, Click Start -> Run...
  5. Type in: LUSRMGR.MSC and click OK.
  6. Double-click on Users folder.
  7. Double-click on your locked user account.
  8. Uncheck "Account is disabled" and click OK.
  9. Close "Local Users and Groups" window.
  10. Click Start -> Log off Administrator.
  11. Login to your user account!
Note: If you don't have access to the Administrator account (because you don't have the password), please do tell and I'll give you the instructions on how to reset it.

GOOD LUCK!
Pelu.

I am locked out of my computer and i dont know the password how do i get the password or reset the password

Hello! You can use [Windows Password Rescuer] to find all your user accounts and recover/remove windows password instantly then you can access as those user without password. This software supports Windows 7/vista/xp/2008/2003/2000 password recovery.
You also can use it to add a new user account with admin privileges without logon, then login as this new user to remove/reset your forgotten user password from control panel.
I highly recommend you to use [Daos Password Recovery Bundle 2012], it is an all-in-one password recovery software, which recover password for Windows, Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook, RAR/WinRAR, ZIP/WinZIP, PDF etc. Over 70+ types of passwords can be recovered instantly.

I have a laptop inspiron and cannot remove the lock function when i log on

First of all i need to know the specific model of the inspiron laptop in question.
Secondly,is the lock or its better to say password on the motherboard or on the user account.
If its the user account, then you can type the word "Administrator" in the user field if it opens up for u then u can access that account through C:\Documents and Settings/ user account and access the data. After u can even delete that account.
Or I reccommend to use Hillens Boot Cd and use the password tools.
thnx

G4 MAC LOCKING UP

After boot??? Have you tried holding down the shift key (Safeboot). If you can log into your account then check startup items in systemprefs/user accounts/startupitems

If it still crashes you need to create a new user account. Log in and if that works then copy all data from old account by using Batch Mod on old users folder. Do not copy anything from user library.
