Boiler won't ignite for hot water unless heating is on.

If this is in a RV the propane monitoring valve may require more gas flow to turn on than the water heater requires. A central heating system requires substantial gas flow so when the monitoring valve opens to fire the central heating, there is enough gas flow to also fire the water heater.

Central heating not working but hot water is ok.

If when you turn power off you wait a while it is probably not the central system coming on. You have a triple aquastat that maintains a temperature level needed to provide hot water. but you are not getting the thermostat to operate the central heating. The thermostat is a switch that operates by temperature. if you have tried raising the thermostat and the system did nor kick in. try jumping the thermostat terminals in the aquastat . if that works then the problem is either in the thermostat or the wiring to the thermostat. also with a electrical tester." while the thermostat is jumped" test the c1 and c2 terminals to see if power is going to the circulator. If not then you need a new aquastat. if you have power and the pump is not moving water replace it.

Ariston Micro genus 11 Only getting hot water no central heating

Check the heat exchanger. Often they and gummed up.& you will have to try & flush it out or replace. If this model has the cylindrical type, they are pigs to do.
If this machine is 10 yrs old or more, you might find it better in the long run to have a new boiler
Just a thought, but I assume that the valves on the 3/4 " central heating pipes are turned on
Parts to look forward to later - fan £80 - pump £65 - heat exchanger £110 - diverter valve £65 - pressure relief valve £45

Hi,
You are right you definetly have some issues there and it would seem that the "short" either messed with the brain of your heater or the critter is wired wrong.
To be totally honest for me to sit at a computer and try to assume what exactly went wrong would be totally unprofessional.
If you were my customer I would be telling you to call me the next time it acted up and let it in that state so that I could come and do some testing ti figure what the problem is... Once you reset the rpoblem goes away and I am out o luck to find it.
See if you can find someone that will come and treouble shoot that thing while it is in the failed state, that will let you know for sure hwat the issue is.

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!

Honeywell wall thermostat

Hi,Richmart
I'm Harvey the Plumber,
First, Your question is if your thermostat is wired correctly!

Assuming that it is correct, a common problem that most people and plumbers overlook is correctly setting the heat anticipater on the thermostat.
Assuming that you have a gas central heating system, then you must simply look on the gas valve for the amp rating.
For instance,if the gas valve printing says .4 amps then set the heat anticipater for .4
It's common for the unit to turn on and off erratically (short cycling) when this setting is not correct.
If all you are worryied about is the wiring, you must look at the wireing diagram that came with the thermostat.
Further diagnoses would requie detailed information about your central heating system.
Or the alternative would be to have a hands on tech help you out.

Thank you,
