Make sure your oil level is just below the full mark not above it.

95 sl500 fuel tank holds a lot of pressure, idles rough when stopped at idle speed Where is the fuel tank breather hose?

There is no breather hose for the fuel tank, the system is designed as a sealed system to prevent gas fumes from polluting the air it is called the "Evaporative emissions control system", and yes some systems can have alot of pressure in the tank esp on hot days or after a long drive.

How do the crankcases gasses get into the intake air chamber of my 2002 volvo xc70 and does this or can this make the ngine rough

It's possible that you may have either a clogged breather box or broken breather box hose. The breather box is located under the intake manifold. It is sometimes also called an oil trap.

Oil from oil tank breather dumps oil in air cleaner

common problems that can cause this is to much oil. engine veins blocked or the rings on the piston are gone and the back pressure from ignition creates an overflow of air into the system.

I have a 93 Mercury Tracer with a Ford 1.9L engine. About 2 months ago it started idling high and low when I am parked or at a stop light. After checking my air filter, I noticed that it was sucking oil...

put a can of seafoam in your fuel tank at your next fill up after doing the following
replace your pcv valve
replace all the loose, worn, broken, or missing vacuum hoses one the entire engine
clean the air breather tubes, the whole air cleaner, and if necessary the air filter
that should do it for you

1996 Honda VT 1100 C2 Shadow Sabre oil in the air filter box

Hi, Wayne and the usual suspects are:
1. Oil tank/system overfilled.
2. Faulty breather valve.
3. Engine breather hose bent, pinched, kinked etc.
4. Air filter has too much "pre-oil".
5. Crankshaft seal failure allowing transmission fluid to migrate.
6. Blow by drain tube cracked/split or filled to capacity.

Why is oil going in the hose connecting to the air intake box.

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

That will be the engine breather hose. There should be no oil in the hose, if there's oil then it surely is an engine issue. The piston rings surely is bout to go so be ready for replacement soon to resolve the issue.
Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Oil in the air filter ,RANGER 500 2X4/4X4

Has the oil been changed lately? A lot of times over filling the oil will cause oil to blow back thru the carburetor, Also if the air filter got caked with mud running the box with no lid or allot of dirt in the filter. The engine will try to use the crankcase breather hose as an air intake since not enough air was coming in the conventional way, therefore sucking in oil. Has it smoked at all? Sometimes if you try to shut it off oil will run back down the intake tubes into the air box. This may be applicable to your engine that the breather is being used to **** oil into the box due to lack of fresh air intake.
The other possibilities would be crank case pressure pushing the oil in (piston ring blow by), but that should (theoretically) result in low compression (since the cylinder pressure is getting to the crankcase instead of staying in the cylinder), the oil is overfull and being pushed out since air will compress but liquid will not, or poor crank case ventilation system design (but if that were the case likely there would be a recall as that would directly effect emissions which is federally regulated).

2001 VW POLO 1.4 16v AHW, breather hose problem

if heave oil deposits are coming trough the breather then you may have other problems, such as worn piston rings causing exsessive blow by resulting in the oil being in the intake box, a filter will only create a restriction coursing more poblems, do a compresion and cylinder leak down test to find out how well the rings are sealing.

When the mower is started it runs very smoothly. The blow by from engine comes through the valve on side through floor of Carburator housing fouling air cleaner. when air cleaner off oil is sprayed on...

REPLACE THE CRANKCASE BREATHER ON THE SIDE OF THE BLOCK. IT IS A SMALL RECTANGULAR SHAPED BOX AT THE END OF THE HOSE THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE AIR CLEANER HOUSING WHERE THE OIL IS SPRAYING IN
