Question about HP OfficeJet 7410 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

The printer can't get past the warm up phase

I've tried all the unplug and wait routines as well as hold certain keys down at once routines and nothing works. Tried online help desk and their solutions for holding different keys down don't work either. I guess its simply 500.00 down the drain.

Solution one: Check the scanner light Make a color copy of any document by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the control panel. While the product is making the copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light is visible. If the scanner mechanism moves across the scan bed, but the light is not lit, click here to service the product . Solution two: Check operating conditions Extreme temperatures can affect the operation of the product. Make sure the operating conditions match those recommended in the User Guide provided with the product. Solution three: Check the power connections

  1. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  2. Press and hold # and 6 while plugging in the power cord.
  3. Make a color copy of any document by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the control panel.
Solution six: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. Now if this still does not work call in to hp at 1800-474-6836 if your printer is out of warranty directly dont go for any troubleshooting just ask the agent who answers you call to give you the upgrade options(printers with a 50% discount with a years hardware replacement warranty as well as software help warranty ,which can be extended fro about 3 years)its basically a factory refurbished printer which means that if wallmart purchases a 100 printers and realises they need 99 then they send one back to hp thats what is called refurbished but no one has used it,if you get an option of a officejet J6480 that is the best printer I have it my friends have it my relatives also have it in autralia and canada.......wonderful printer easy to use and is usb as well as wireless capable

My hp laserjet 3330mfp reports a scanner bulb is warming up and it never goes off. I have tried to unplug then plug back in. The printer works fine.

Here is how to cold reset the machine. also I added some addtiona options below as well.

1 Unplug (or turn off) the product from the power source.
2 Press and hold down the * and menu/enter keys.
3 Continue to hold down the keys while you plug back in (or turn on) the product, through the entire power on sequence.
4 When the control panel display reads Permanent Storage Init. release the keys.
5 Allow the product to return to Ready before using the product.

If that doesn't work it can be a power related issue,
- Make sure it's NOT plugged in to a surge protector.-
- Try a different outlet on the wall.
if theses steps fail you will most likely have to replace the scanner assembly

Another Option you can try as well :
Also I found this on a HP forum NOT SURE IF IT ACTUALLY WILL WORK:
" Scanner Bulb Walkout - Unplug the power from the unit, plug the power back in wait until the unit reads "Scanner Bulb Warming Up" Unplug the unit. Repeat this step 5 times.
This should move the scanner assembly back to its home position.

Am getting error message of 'alignment failed'. black cartridge will not print

You can run into a problem aligning print heads on almost any HP All-in-One. Fortunately, the problem is usually with the paper or cartridges, not the printer itself.
The quick and dirty fix is to skip the alignment. With the HP printer, you can do that by holding the Enter button down and pressing Setup.
When you're ready to tackle the alignment issue, check the paper first. If there's anything written or printed on the page, if it's any color but white, or if its brightness level—which should be on the package—isn't at least 85, you can't use it for alignment.
If the problem isn't the paper, it's almost certainly the cartridges, which could be low on ink (if you replaced only one cartridge), defective, suffering from clogged nozzles, or past their shelf life.cartridges include a use-by date on the box. The dates tend to be conservative, but if the deadline is long since past, the cartridge could be all but useless.
Run the cartridge-cleaning routine, and then try aligning the cartridges again. If the problem was with clogged nozzles, the cleaning routine might fix it. If it doesn't, the next step is to try cleaning the cartridges and the contacts in the printer. Once you've cleaned the cartridges, try the alignment routine again. If it still fails, and you feel rich enough, you might want to try a new set of cartridges. Or, you might want to bypass the alignment again and use up the ink in the current cartridges first.
