SOURCE: Casset cover door will not open when pressed

You probably have one of two problems. Either the tape has been eaten by wrapping it around the capstan or else the head has not retracted to let the door open. If the tape will still play, then it is not the first problem. If the tape will not play, then it could be either problem. If it is the latter problem (head not retracted) then you may have a bad belt (broken or slipping). The tape wrapped around the capstan problem may be caused by a belt or tire being bad but a different belt or tire than the head not retracting problem. This may seem confusing to you but that is just the nature of the thing. In short, I'd bet you have a bad belt or tire that needs replacing. I hope this helps. Good luck.

SOURCE: Sunsui cassete deck D-79R

It will have a dry bearing in the transport. Probably the capstan motor or the capstan flywheel. A drop(one) of 3 in 1 oil carefully applied to the bearing(dont get it on any belts or pulley drive surfaces) may help The rear bearing of the motor is harder to get to, but generally not the culprit. If you dont have a small oiler syringe to do this You may have to pull the motor assembly out, or the capstan flywheel retainer plate, and then remove the flywheel completely to do this. Clean the capstan shaft, belts and pulley drive surfaces while you have it pulled down with acetone. Good luck, feel free to follow up here with me if it gets ugly. :)

My car battery keeps dying because of my tape casset player in my 1997 infiniti J30, how do i fix this?

Why do you think this is due to your cassette player? Is it not powering off when you shut down the car? If so, try removing the fuse to the radio until you can get a replacement.

2000 Buick Century. Put in a replacement radio/cd/casset player. Radio works, clock works, but CD and casset do not. The message comes up E 13. What does this e code mean?

if its a radio shack radio, it means E13 means "Tape Communication Error". It is caused by the
microprocessor reading speed pulses from the tape deck either too fast, most other makes mean about the same thing, normally a stuck tape will cause this code to show up, either that or the drive gear that loads and unloads the tape is broken, cracked, or jammed

Could be a worn out belt? The cassette loads it the drive down too much. Hence why it turns with no tape.

Canon ZR60 Mini DV Digital, remove the cassete message

This is a tape transport problem and is expensive to fix. Unless you know a cheap tech, it's time for a new one. Be patient loading and unloading tapes. This is usually what causes this problem. The Yellow warning sticker is REALLY important. Another important item is to always use the same brand of tape because switching tapes causes a gummy build-up the makes tapes get caught in the machine.
