I'm pretty sure that the Headset is not what caused your problem. Quick question for you though, are you using a Power Supply with your phone, or is it PoE (Power Over Ethernet). If it's got a power supply, try a different one (if avail.). If it's PoE, try the phone in a different location.

Unfortunately, if neither of these helps, then I think you've shorted your phone. It could have been caused by a faulty headset, but I doubt it. If that is the case, then the headset wouldn't work on any other phone, is this correct?

Is this in the same switch as when it was last working? If not, it could be that the new switch that it is being plugged into is not a Power Over Ethernet switch (if you do not have a power supply for the phone that you are using).

The other issues could be that the PoE function has been switched off on that port, the port is disabled for some reason (check for errdisable status in a sh int [interface name and number] command) or just simply that the port is shut down (test this by plugging in a computer and see if it communicates ok.

Hope that this has helped!

Is the phone connected to a POW (Power Over Ethernet)Cisco Switch? Check the model number of the switch with the Cisco web site www.cisco.com

Have you check whether there is power available on the switch?
enter "show power inline" at the command prompt.

Does the phone work without the head set?
Does the same thing happen when you plug in the head set on another phone?

Connecting a hub or switch to the "PC" port on the back of the phone is not a recommended best practice by Cisco as the IP phone does not support spanning tree protocol.

I would check your duplex settings. Often, if you hard code the duplex settings or have a mis-match; one end may not talk properly. Also, have you tested the wiring? Do you know the ethernet is okay for sure? TechRx, Inc. - techrxgb.com

Unfortunately this is a very common problem with Cisco's IP Phones. It can be caused by either a faulty hookswitch or a damaged jack. Both of these problems can be remedied by contacting IdacomUSA.

Unable to connect jabra t5330 to a cisco ip phone 7941G headset jack

You can solve this by connecting your phone inline.
On the back of the phone where the phone handset plugs into, plug one end of the jabra headset wire & connect other end to the 2nd position (marked by phone & handset). Now plug the handset wire from Ip phone to the 1st position (marked by handset) in the jabra headset. Now you are good to go.

When the phone rings lift the phone handset and answer it with your jabra headset. You can't use jabra with 7941 without lifting the handset on phone.
