Question about Dell 22" SP2208WFP Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor
The blue power light is steady on but screen is black. I have hooked it up with different cables to a different PC that I know is working, still a black screen. So not a cable problem, not the laptop's problem. Is it dead? None of the menu buttons bring up anything on the screen. Pretty old...thanks.

SOURCE: Monitor won't display.
I would suggest that the "Event" that caused the CB to trip has caused ya Monitor to fail.. Probably in the Power Supply, My "Pet" area... lol.. anyway Thats wat I would think. It may even have an internal "Fuse" that has "Blown"?

Solution to a blinking orange power light indicator.
1. Check the fuse on the inverter board labeled F1. If it is opened then your inverter board has a problem. That's why the fuse is opened.
2. Remove the white wide cable connecting the main board and inverter board. Next plug the D-sub cable and power adapter and test. If the 2 green light indicators are solid green then your problem is positively coming from your inverter board.
Solution in fixing the inverter board:
In my case, the fuse was opened. So I first resoldered all the legs of the 4 transformers. Eight legs each transformer. Resoldered also the capacitor at the back of the inverter board. Checked the 2 diodes labeled (D3 and D13). One of them was shorted. So replaced it using Radioshack 3A 400piv. It is quite bigger in value but I just want to make sure it can handle the load of current.
Tip in checking a diode, it should always open using a digital tester.
That's it. re-assemble then test it again.

SOURCE: Screen Goes Blank
Ive seen this on other monitors. Look for a 1 and 2. Some monitors do NOT auto detect a signal, and this one might not. Look for a way to set the monitor from Digital input to VGA input. Try that and see.

SOURCE: Power on - blank (black) screen
Disconnect the monitor signal cable from PC and switch on your monitor. It should show some logo with Red, Green and Blue colors with a message similar to "No signal". If so, your monitor is working fine. Sometimes if the brightness and contrast is set to zero using controls present in the monitor, it will not show up anything. check wheather somebody set your monitor brightness and contrast to zero. If so incease them. As a last try connect to different PC and check before approaching a service center. I hope this will help you out. :)
