Question about Bosch Evolution 500 SHE45M05UC Stainless Steel Dishwasher

1 Answer

Water does not drain

After finished wash cycle the water stays in the bottom of tub. It is dirty and soapy water.

Dishes are not washed properly. Drain is free of obstructions.
a coupe of days ago the washer was used with regular dishwashin liquid and had a lot of bubbly suds all over.
I am not sure if the water problem started before or after that incident.
I also cannot find my owners manual to do some trouble shooting myself.
Thanks for a prompt response. We are a family of 6 and need it very often
Regards

HI. i recommend inspecting the following areas to address this issue.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer/Control
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

Dishwasher washes dishes but does not dry even though that display shows dry icon

First ,Check for a water puddle on the bottom of the dishwasher .If you have water there, you more than likely have a plugged drain or drain hose, or bad drain pump (less likely) If no water is there see if the dishes are hot after a cycle. If they are not you could have a bad heater (that circular thing on the bottom of the dishwasher) other problems could be the timer or computer Depending on the model brand and age of the dishwasher .One last thing there is a vent to let moisture escape that could be bad but then you would have hot wet dishes

Not washing dishes

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Dirty dishes post cycle are a sign of draining problems however this is a list of what it could be.

1. A partially clogged drain
2. The timer motor is not functioning properly
3. A broken or worn pump impeller

Here is what you need to do:

Check your entire drain system. Start at the final outlet and work your way backward to the motor pump connection on the dishwasher.

Suspected areas are.

a. The sink connection outlet is clogged (this can be inside a garbage disposal.

b. The air-gap is clogged in the very top part of the air-gap (Usually located on the back of the sink and is around 3 inches tall) Remove the cover, unscrew the top nut and check under the horse shoe bend inside the plastic top for obstructions. Clean as needed)

c. There is debris on top of the the motor pump housing blocking the inlet drain. (This would be inside the housing of the lower wash arm on the very bottom)

d. The motor pump outlet drain port is partially blocked. (only accessable from the motor pump exit hole after drain hose removal.)

A partially blocked inlet tub drain to the motor pump would also explain why the lower part of the dishes are not getting clean. Additionally you would have spotted dishes post cycle.

When the drain is partially blocked some models use the float level switch in the tub to control the advancement of the timer. If the water does not drain the motor pump continues to run and run and the cycle does not advance until the tub is drained and the float switch senses same. i.e extended cycle

One more thing to check is the lower wash arm holes for debris or obstructions.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Doesn't drain; glasses have film; rinses with used, soapy water

The white film problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to www.dishwasherfilter.com to find out more info.

Food particles are on dishes after washing

Try adding bicarb of soda/baking soda and vinegar in the detergent dispenser. Bicarb fizzes off hardened particles and vinegar strips off grease and aids rinsing.

Water seems to be hot enough, drains properly, arnms not blocked, dishes not being cleaned at end of cycle. Almost seems like it is skipping the wash cycle.

Hi smiller8565,
There is 3 basic problems that will cause a dishwasher to not clean the dishes. You can check these problems and see if any will solve your problems.
1: If there is water or suds left in the dishwasher after the cycle is complete. This will cause dirty water to be used in the final rinse and the dishes will not get clean.
2: The pump that supplies water to the spray arms is jammed or defective and unable to pump the water properly, thus causing the dishes to remain dirty.
3: Timer, the timer is not allowing the machine to work in the wash cycle.
The solutions for these 3 are as follows.
1: check the drain line for blockage, if you have a disposal make sure it is clear and water flows down the drain properly. If you have suds left in the dishwasher, clean them out and run a couple cycles with not detergent to rinse away the old suds.
2: Look down in the bottom for any obstructions in the pump. Popcorn seeds, broken glass, etc.
3: If the unit is skipping the wash cycle you will most likely need a new timer or control assembly.
Good luck and I really hope this will Fix Ya

Water not fully draining during washing dishes. Stays approx 2 inches.

heres some few other simple checking & steps, that will guide you to the process...

1st
Remove the cover from the air gap at the top of the sink (usually a short chrome domed cylinder that sits at the back of the sink) and, using a wire, clean it. Also check the entire length of the drain hose for kinks and blockages, especially at the drain connection to the disposer or drain line.

2nd
Once the dishwasher is cool, shut off the power to it, and--if your dishwasher is made to allow this-- remove the strainer, located under the bottom spray arm at the base of the cabinet. Unscrew the hubcap, lift the spray arm off, and remove any clips that hold the strainer to get it out. Scrub it clean with a brush, then replace it.

3rd
Determine whether the sink trap or house drain line is clogged

4th
If it still doesn't drain properly, the drain hose may be clogged or the drain valve may need replacement. At this point, it's usually best to call a repair person. You can check the drain hose for obstructions, but this sometimes involves pulling the dishwasher out from under your counter to access the hose, disconnecting the hose at both ends, and flushing it out with a faucet or garden hose.

Let me know..

Thanks

Dishwasher not cleaning dishes. Casade cleaner not disolved.???

Run the unit with no soap, after about 5 min. of run time open door and check to see if water is clear or soapy,If soapy then you are having an oversudsng issue. When your washer gets to rinse cycle, your unit (if oversuding),will be rinsing with soapy water and the the drying cycle bakes the soap on dishes. You might be having a white film on your clear glasses.Cut down on soap especially if you have soft water.powder soap is best.Your dishwasher will fill , wash , the drain. Its what you put into it that will cause dishes not become clean.
