    Why won't it start?

It should automatically restart.....BUT what happened is that when you unplugged it, you cut off the blower at the same time you cut off the heat element(s). The way it is supposed to work, is the thermostat cuts power off to the elements and the fan continus to run for a per-determined amount of time to remove al the heat from the elements. Then another 'fan control switch' shuts off the fan once the 'residual' heat is removed from the heater. Without that 'cool down' cycle, the hot element had enough 'residual' heat in it to trip off the 'thermal overload' in the circuit. The 'thermal overload'... or...'hi limit'...or...'hi temperature control' is resposible for shutting power off to the element(s) in the event that the blower fails.

When heat is on the fan never shuts off until just before the heat cycle starts...cools the house off rather quickly therefore heat runs more..when the A/C is on the fan shuts off between cycles how

The heat runs the blower until the heating elements cool to a specific level, to get all the heat out of them. The switch wears out and or sticks (called a Limit Switch). if you have a handyman he may be able to lube it w/electronic lube spray but it may beworn out. $30 part, plus service call.

I SET THE TIMER ON MY NUWAVE OVEN I TURN IT ON IT TURNS ITSELF OFF

I looked at one of these today with the same symptom. Set a cook time, turn it on and the fan starts for a second and turns back off. When you take the cover off of the unit you will see a fan. On the winding of the fan is a thermal switch. I found a bad connection on one of the wires to that switch. It threads into a couple of cutout areas in the plastic on either side of the fan windings. It is there to open if the fan stops working to prevent the thing from melting down with the heat from the element not being blown downward. The wires have a heatshrink around them, so you will have to cut that away put in a new piece of shrink, re-solder the connection, then pull the shrink over it again and shrink it down. Worked for this one and I hipe it helps you too. Good luck.

    Dv6704nr wouldn't boot

Sooner or later all PCs to that, just like cars, wont start.
DV6-704n? came new with VISTA in 2011 .
this is a lap top, there is no schematic at that level. (a secret it is)
won't boot (but many things must be ok before boots happen)
IT STOPS, you mean it shuts its power off after power on by itself
sure that can be a power problem and is FIRST
so is a black screen all the time,
my guess, it self powers OFF and cant get in to BIOS.
BIOS DEAD TOO? Esc , BIOS pages, or any BIOS pages good?
all PCs shut off for overheat, as fast as 3 seconds too...
1: does it run on a/c only, battery out.
2: is BIOS alive (this is first after running on A/C power only, does it> run BIOS now???? the fan for sure runs, if power is there
is the coin cell dead, ?
3: full of dust and CPU overtheats or heat sink loose does this.
4: flash codes. at power on?
5: a/c power pack work with main battery out? yes/no.

try a new A/C pack, some get weak and does this. easy.
most HP packs are 19vdc on the 2 wires.
if not at spec. 19v (near) then its a bad pack or wrong watts pack used. The 19vdc is really #1 , it must be good or it will fail hard.

Hotpoint Dryer Heater stays on when door is opened

Strange. Heaters usually shut down with the spinning drum when door is open. If you check the schematic for unit you can check to see if in fact this is correct operation. Attached site usually has schematics for appliances. You might want to check. Search Over 2 1 Million Appliance Parts

Dryer takes a long time to warm up. It drys in 2 hours and does not shut off automatically. Maytag series 200

To make things properly, voltages to heating element should be tested, but that is a job that must be done by a technician.

Test first the heating fan. If it is not working replace the fan assembly.

Replace the heating element if that does not solve the problem replace the control board.

You can find schematics and diagrams by entering model number here.
