Question about Leviton 8299 Combination Switch / Smart lock GFCI Outlet
Replacing two old switches that have the three, 3-way toggle switches lined up closely side-by-side vertically, to fit the box of a conventional one-toggle switch. OK if one of the switches is single pole.
Not if you want it to work correctly. If you have 2 switches controlling one circuit, they have to be a 3-way, more than 2 switches, it must be a 4-way. The black screw is the only one that matters on wiring, it will go to line or load, the other 2 screws go to the control wires and can go in any order. Obviously ground should be on green. And make sure the breaker is turned off during this process.

Power off the unit using the toggle
switch on the back. Hold down the 'eject' button and turn the toggle
switch back from off to on. This will run a fan test and should eject
your disc. Remember, this will only work on the 20, 40g models. Not
the backwards compatible units with the 4 usb port holes and the
memory card slots.
