My TI-84 calculater is calculating the problems in a very weird way. For instance if i type in 2x2 it will give me the answer 4e0. Is there a way to fix it?

That is the right result: 2x2 is 4 times 10 to the 0th power. But if you don't want your answer in scientific notation, press MODE, highlight NORMAL on the first line, press ENTER, then press 2ND [QUIT]. (You can also select the number of digits on the second line, or FLOAT and let the calculator choose.)

MEMORY + KEY / PRINT ON / OFF KEY: Pressing selects print mode or non-print mode. Cause the calculator to operate in a display / print or display only mode, depending upon the calculator’s present state. “P” on the display: Print mode. “NP” on the display: Non-print mode. MEMORY – KEY / DECIMAL SELECTION KEY: Pressing sets the number of decimal places in the result. “F” on the display: The answer is displayed in the floating decimal system. “3, 2, 1, 0” on the display: Presets the number of decimal places in the answer. “A” on the display (Add mode): The decimal point in addition and subtraction entries is automatically positioned to the 2nd digit from the lowest digit of entry number. My Canon P23-DH calculator is printing out weird symbols

I also have a Canon P23-DH 111 that is printing strange symbols. This has happened after an electrical storm.
I contacted Canon Support and they verified that the board inside has been corrupted by a power surge.
I now have a new Canon P23-DH V and I invested in a surge protector.
My grandaughter is playing with the old machine.

Weird lines, characters, symbols etc.

It sounds like you need to put in a new set of back-up batteries. They can be found behind where the AA batteries are.
