Question about ASUS P5VDC-MX Motherboard

Processor heats up while processing heavy graphics

I have Asus P5VDC-MX motherboard and Intel Pentium-D processor 2.8 Ghz . 1 GB Ram .

The problem is when ever i am engaged with heavy work graphics the processor heats up so much that you can't even touch the sink it will burn your hand.

ASUS Q-Fan Technology then starts its job and the fan becomes an engine ,creates too much of noise.

Please suggest a solution that fixes both heating and the noise for ever. I want a smooth running PC with virtually no noise.

Thanks
abhishek

It sounds like the heatsink/fan combo you are using is not rated high enough for your cpu. Is the fan/sink from Intel( they shipsome that are sub par). I would try a thermaltake or coolmaster fan/sink combo and be sure to use the heat sink compound that comes with the kit. As an add on if you installed a case fan it would help the cpu keep cool too.

The only way to keep it cool is a bigger heat sink or more airflow.

We have mounted fans into the top of the side panel of a PC to draw air out of the chassis which seems to do the trick

Get a QMax cutter and put some holes in the lower half of the right hand panel

Cover the holes with stainless steel mesh glued on with a hot glue gun

That way you create a chimney effect causing cooler air to be drawn in at the bottom and the hot stuff out of the top

If the fans can be mounted above the level of the processor then you have the optimum

Asus notebook windows 7 totally frozen..."not responding" Can't even exit without holding power off.

This is due to the fact that your ASUS Eee PC 701 PC does not offer minimum System requirements to run windows 7

Microsoft has published their minimum specifications for a system running Windows 7
as
  • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

************
But I suggest following as min to run smoothly

  • A Dual Processor (AMD or Intel) – you can use a lower Celeron or Pentium Processor, but you will regret it

  • 2 GB RAM (operating memory) – you can use less, but you will regret it

  • 16 GB available disk space and another 20 to 30 GB if you plan on running applications

  • A Vista compatible graphics card (DirectX 9 graphics process with WDDM 1.0 or higher)

  • A Vista compatible sound card

  • Vista drivers for any other unique hardware you have on or connected to your computer

HI,

The only Thing To Do, is view both Motherboards, user Manuals.
To see The boards CPU Support List.
It could be to do with, certain Motherboards Supporting, certain CPUs.
I.e a 533mhz cpu, would not run on a Motherboard that supports 400mhz. The Systems Bios, May cause Other Problems.
If your getting a Black Screen, is it a possible Graphics/Ram Problem, Rather Than The CPU ??

    1gb shows 512mb only

Your mobo is quite old and its chipset can only support a maximum of 512MB PER SIDE (technically called a bank) of a memory module. I would guess that your 1gb memory module has 8 chips that are all located on one side of the module, putting all of the 1 GB on one bank. Thus, only 512MB of your 1 gb RAM is detected and usable by your motherboard (the remaining 32 mb is most likely being used by your onboard video). You'll need to find a double sided 1 gb memory module (usually 8 chips on each side).
