OK, did you make sure that the new power supply you were given, matched up to the power specs of *********** board and video card as well?

Ok, the best actions here will be to purchase the correct power supply unit. you can order your unit online or , you can purchase it, via best by or office depot. this current supply unit may not have the correct ratings for your unit. if so, it will nto power the mother board .

Its good practice to purchase the power supply new. a good reated power supply will put out at least 600w-800w

I agree, I would go ahead and purchase a new unit in this case. these individual parts can cost a bit. it will be more cost effective to just purchase a fresh unit.

Helo,

If the power supply from your friends old computer may not fave all of the correct plugs to power up your computer. You system needs 2 plugs going to the motherboard one with 20 pins and one with 4 pins. Besure you have the correct plugs. The second thing to check is recheck the friendss power supply in another machine. Last option is that when your power supply overheated and died that it damaged your motherboard and you may have to replace it too.

Fan works randomly....when it's not working plug

Hi, If the computer is hot near the electrical plug in the back of the computer then the power supply needs to be replaced. This will also cause overheating problems if the fan does not exhaust enough air. You should not run the computer in this condition because the power supply can short out and take other components with it. Also there is a risk that it will burn up. Power supplies are very inexpensive and can be changed by anyone with basic computer repair knowledge. Hank

emachine ! ( junk) sorry but sounds like the mother board died on ya time for a new one bro this is a hardware problem and emachines tend to do this after a year or two and if they don't get good air flow they get hot and fry out thats what it sounds like the mom board went out so don't waste your time trying to fix will end up costing you more to have someone do it right and will probably get ripped off in the process unless you know how to. so buy a new one the best desk tops are HP, toshiba, and get a higher end one if ya can sorry but is a spendy problem good luck and have a nice day the fixist

Emachines ET1810 desktop computer randomly powers down for seemingly no reason. Doesn't crash or freeze, just turns off, as if the plug was pulled. Started about 5-6 months after buying.

It could be overheating, and automatically shutting itself down, to avoid any damage.

Did you get the standard 12 month warranty when you purchased the computer? Did you purchase "extended" warranty? If so, contact Emachines, and get them to trouble-shoot and fix it.

Emachines shuts itself off.

This sounds like either a power supply issue or a CPU fan issue to me. You say you hear a fan spinning loudly. Try and determine which fan it is. Take the left side panel off your case and start your game. When the fan gets loud identify which one it is. It's possible that the heatsink on your CPU is clogged up (pet dander, dust, smoke, etc.) and needs to be blown out. Get a can of compressed air and try blowing out the inside of your PC. It's possible your CPU/video card/power supply is just getting too hot.

Emachine wont start

remove all external and internal peripherls.

example for external: mouse, monitor, keyboard, printer.

Internal: hard drive, memory modules, video cards, modem (if there's any), optical drive or dvd drives.

just leave the motherboard, power supply and processor intact, try turning on the computer with out those components mentioned. see if you get a beep sound before it turns off, but if not the most logical part that needs to be replaced on this type of problem is the power supply if that doesn't work the next thing to do is replace the motherboard. hope that helps

hit me back on the results. thanks!

Kenmore side by side compressor keeps getting hot

Your fan is stalling which in turn is over heating the compressor causing it to shut itself down. Replace the fan and make sure the coils under the fridge are clean. That should take care of the problem. Good luck

No Power up on depressing On/Off button.

Sometimes if the CPU is overheatign it will power down to stop the cpu from buring out. A power suppluy just supplies power to the motherboard and that's it. If the CPU gets hot it shuts down and wont start till it cools down again.
