I lose my configuration settings on my AVR 525 when the power is shut off. Is there a battery that powers the backup.

All computer have a CMOS battery mounted on the motherboard. It is always a round battery like a large dime. Make sure the computer is unplugged. Here is a video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCTMOTlYikg

TV's are not your best source of audio. Get the TV-related audio digitally from the source, NOT the TV.

Sound from reciever

LFE (ONE CABLE ON THE SUB TO SUB OUT ON AVR) OR stereo L/R analog cable from sub to tape in/or out on avr (depends on AVR) LFE connection the sub turns up with the AVR - the stereo cable threw tape in/out on AVR only turns up via its own onboard amp volume from AVR has no affect.

Lost audio for no apparent reason

Try unplugging your HDMI cable from the AVR I would like to see if your AVR is trying to use HDMI out instead of the composite. Next try plugging each device directly into your television, this will isolate the issue and tell us for sure whether or not it's the AVR.

Sherwood AVR 525 Receiver

If it is just a 2 pin "figure of 8" type plug(shaver plug) they are available most any electronics hobby shop, or an appliance retailer. If you have trouble identifying the socket on the amp... get back to me here. Good luck:)
