Can you remove the steam button if you can fill with water heat to maximum and holding over sink remove steam button rod this will clean the steam traks but be careful this gets very hot.

Most heating plates on steam presses are teflon coated. I have used 409 to rub rust and other stains off the telfon coated heating plates before. Try that.
Also WD-40 works well with other stains. Don't ask me why, but WD-40 cleans some stuff really well.
