2 Answers

After I plugued in the reader nothing comes on the screen.

How to get pix from the camera into my computer? I bought a reader (looks like a flash drive), I put the memory card into it and into my computer USB...and I don't see pix on the screen. Also, I don't see the icon in the taskbar that tells you when it's safe to remove the reader. Thank you for any help you can give em please...

Did your camera not come with a USB cord? mine did and when I plug it into the computer it doesn't always pop up with a dialog box asking if I want to import the pics, however if you go to your start menu then click on pictures it will bring up your picture files then look on the side bar (it should be on the left) then scroll down and if you are properly connected it will have a listing for your camera, just right click on it, and it will give you the option to import. Hope this was hepful

Testimonial: "Thank you Stephanie, yes, it did come with a cord but I lost it (in my own apartment) lol! I just couldn't find it so I bought this reader. I will follow your advice and see if it helps. However, what do you think of the fact that when I plug in the reader it doesn't show in the taskbar? Could it all be part of the same thing, whatever it is? Thanks again."

Hi Stephanie, just to tell you that I tried again: I plugued in the reader, then the memory card on the reader, and this time I did see in the taskbar the icon saying "It's save....etc." but, when I went to >Start >Search >Pictures....the pix weren't there. They are in the camera though. If you or someone here have other solutions I'll appreciate it a lot. Thanks so much for your help..

Is the reader clean?
Can you see it in the device mangaer?
Did you tryed it on another computer?

Testimonial: "Thank you Neils, it should be clean since I always keep it with its cap on. I don't know how to get to the device manager, but I don't see the icon in the taskbar that tells you when it's safe to remove it. I don't have another computer just this one. Maybe I'll try with the Nikon's ViewNX2. Thank you again."

Yes, I have the PC (desktop) open, then plug in the reader and plug in the memory card into the reader...and nothing happens.

Oh Neils, I wonder, is what you call "device manager" the same as what I call the "taskbar"? I call the "taskbar" the narrow bar appearing at the bottom of the screen. If so, no, it doesn't show on it, and it should as I did in the past.

Thank you all for trying to help me . Just a note that I was able to transfer the pix with ViewNX 2, but...now how to SAVE them into my computer, preferably into My Pictures folder? I tried and tried and was going in circles, so I quit. I clicked on Primary Destination thinking it would lead to a folder and to saving it, but no luck. Any idea on how to save them itno my computer?

I bought a quantaray card-reader, hooked it up to my USB port and it does nothing - help.

You didn't say what kind of computer you have so I'm assuming it's not Windows 98 because you would need to download a driver for the card reader. When you plug the card reader in, if you don't have a memory card plugged into it, nothing may show up on your screen. With a card, if nothing shows up on the screen, try "my computer" and look for a "removable drive".

Your card reader might have gone bad. You can use your card with a card to usb converter (which generally come for a very low price) and put the usb end of that device into your computer. Usually the usb readers does not need any additional software/driver for use. Then you can use a file manager (windows explorer) to read the new usb drive that appears in your file manager.

Is your card carrying any images from the camera. The card could be in an unknown format, if so you can try formatting it first, before using it in camera.

Canon EOS-1D won't save pix to CF card. G.

The E99 message usually ends up being a shutter box that needs to be replaced. The 1D shutter box should be good for 100,000 images or more, you can probably find the estimated lifespan on Google somewhere.

If you can"t save pics to the CF card then you might have a bent or broken pin on your CF card reader. Look down into the CF slot, does it look ok?

We are an online digital camera repair shop but we haven't done any 1D cameras before.

Lost the download into the computer!

If you can't download pix, best option is to buy a card reader (won't cost you much) and fix the memory card of the camera to the card reader. GThis way you can copy pix much easily as you would copy from a flash drive! Always keep your computer virus free! Viruses store themselves in cameras just as in memory cards and flash drives. When there are viruses, you might loose some of the functionality.

Disney Pix Max 3.0 Megapixel Camera by Digital Blue can't download photos

If you're plugging the camera into a port on the front of your computer try one of the ports on the back. The front ports in most cases only provide 100 milli-amps of power whereas the back ports provide the full 500 milli-amps of power. This could be the problem or it could be your USB cable. Try a different cable and see if that makes a difference. Just make sure that you aren't plugging it into a USB hub and you're connecting it directly to a port in your computer.

Can't download pics to laptop

Try (this link works with Internet Explorer, may give trouble with Firefox). The software probably isn't necessary--if you have Windows XP or later your computer should recognize the camera and enable you to download pictures with Windows File Explorer when you plug it in with the USB cable, or better yet save your batteries and get a cheap memory card reader--I got one new on eBay for $10 that works fine. Once you move the pix from your CF card onto the computer you can use any free photo editing software, like Adobe Photoshop Album to work with your photos.
