SOURCE: I have a Moen Shower
Take a picture of the fixture and then take the plastic handle to Ace orI HD or Lowes and see if they have a match
If they do not have it ask clerck at ace if there is a plumbing specialty store and see f they have it
if not contact Trayco company Florence Sc
they have the largest supply of spare parts in the country

Yes, I believe this unit uses a cartridge right? They do fit a little tight due to the small washers on the back side of the cartridge. If this is the one I'm thinking of, there are two leg like appendenges that come off the back and fit into small holes at the back of the manifold or what some call mixing valve housing.

a washer or o-ring inside the cartridge may have dislodged and caused this ---turn off water to valve or whole house if necessary, and remove shower valve cartridge and inspect---all o-rings/washers should be in place and somewhat greasy(lubricated)....note which way it was when you removed it, as its replacing must be done the same way

If your Posi-Temp has no water coming through the valve my first step would to replace the cartridge (Moen pn 1222). The valve as a simple one. Get the part first so you can ues the plastic tool that comes with it if you need to. Beneath the actual lever insert on the handle hub you will notice a small hole. this is to gain access to the allen head screw which holds the handle in place

The splines are probably striped and the handle will need replacing. but it may be as simple as the handle set screw is lose.
Nine out of ten times these handles go bad when they get lose so if you buy a new one it will come with instillation instructions.
