Asus DRW-2014L1T dual layer DVD writer pla...

I recently bought this DVD writer, my problem is that when i play DVDs in it, the playback is not smooth, i get jerky audio and video as if there is some interference of signals or a buffer under run. I use cyberlink powerDVD 9 to play the DVDs. This also happens on my PC with my 7 years old Asus cd-rom when i play video files from it.I have tried cleaning the laser lens of my drives but it didn't help. I have installed the latest drivers for all components.I have flashed the bios of my motherboard with the latest update but still the problem persists. I have used a Sony DVD writer on my pc in the past and it use to work fine while playing DVDs.My PC configuration is as follows:-

Athlon 64 2800+
Asus K8VX motherboard
Kingston 1 GB DDR 400 ram
XFX Geforce 6200 Graphics card
Creative Audigy value sound card
