Are adult actors more successful than child actors?

Depends on how you define "success".

There may be more adult roles available but there are far more adult professional actors then professional child actors so competition is harder. For example there are about 20,000 child actors with agents in LA. There are 100,000 professional, union adult actors in LA.

And more is expected of adult actors -in addition to knowing the craft of acting, adult actors need to handle the business end of their career as well. Child actors can focus on the craft (while their parents handle the business).

Age doesn't necessarily determine success - talent, training, experience, business sense and industry connections are better indicators of the potential for success.
