The washer uses a green light, which is the "Start" button, to indicate problems, and the flash pattern is a code to the type of problem. Two flashes means the washer's drain pump must be cleaned. Clumpy or poor-quality detergents can clog the drain pump. The user can attempt to fix the pump, but, If the problem continues, he must contact the GE customericon1.png service line for professional service.

Somtimes my washer will put too much water in, then when it starts to agitate the water spills over the top of the tub and onto the floor. it happens (but not always) on the initial fill and when filling...

Remove the front panel. Pull the plastic hose off the air bell on the front left side of the tub.
Use a toothpick to clean the residue out of the hole in the air bell. Replace the plastic tube.
Set the washer on SPIN and turn it on. After the spin cycle finishes start the washer normally.

My GE top loader leaks at the spin cycle when it is letting out the water

Sounds like the tub seal under the tub where the transmission goes into the tub. Replace the trans and seal.

Ge washer leaking

The solution depends on the age or vintage of your machine.

On the old style machine, weighs about 300lbs, leaking is caused by a release port in the pump assembly. Its located above the motor in the rear right corner of the machine.

On the newer version of the machine, often with a white mantel and about 100lbs. Leaking of often caused by a poor brake. When the machine is in wash the brake holds the tub from spinning, however whent hat brake is weak the tub is allowed to spin in the wash cycle causing water to spill over the top of the tub and to the floor.

Its hard to say what the problem is without knowing more but a very basic guideline would be, if its from the pump you will be seeing a small stream coming from under the machine. If its the newer version it will be alot more water.

You should be able to replace the pump yourself, the brake repair is both very involved and can be more costly and should be done by a technician.

Hope this helps, take care

Water is over filling the tub, and spilling all over the laudry room floor.

this sounds like a ge ? if so you need to remove front cover between the top and the front cover you will see a small gap on both sides you will have to put a putty knife in about 2" from the ends and push in
once removed on the left side of tube you will find a small rudder hose pull the hose of clean in side of hose with small screw driver also fill washer with water with hose of untill water leavel is to the center of the box now use a turky baster to force air in to tub by placeing baster over the stem wher the hose was force air in to tub fill washer a lititle more untill water shots out of stem stop washer and drain all the water out cut about 1"off hose reinstall stop useing liqid soap

Soap-not residue-still on clothes

Wow that's a strange one.
Are you pouring the soap into the tub onto the clothes or using a soap dispenser? If using a dispenser, it may be malfunctioning, try pouring soap directly into the tub under the waterfall while it is filling.
When the machine is agitating are the clothes on top being drawn under the water? Usually this occurs as a rolling motion from the edge of the tub towards the agitator. If the top layer of clothes have an air bubble trapped in them they may not be submerging into the water. Any soap on top may not be dissolved.
Finally, if you are pouring soap into the tub, make sure you are not spilling any onto the inside of the lid or in the softener dispenser. It could get trapped in the lip around the edge of the lid and be spilling onto the clothes when you open the lid at the end of the cycle.
Do you have the same problem if you use powder soap?
