Camera does not turn on even with fresh batteries

Observe the new batteries are the most compartible to the camera and also check that the batteries are installed appropiately. Inserting the batteries where positve is at positive and negative is at negative is most appropaite. Observe the batteries compartment to acquire the manufacturers demarkations on which area requires negative and positive side to the batteries being inserted in camera.

Have a canon rebel slr film camera and pictures are coming out white...

If the pictures are white then the negatives will be black and that means your shutter is stuck in the open position.

If the negatives are clear then the shutter hasn't opened at all.

Either way you have a faulty shutter, but as the repair costs far more than the camera is worth and as the camera is a long way past it's 5 year design life the best solution is consign yours to the spares bin and get another.

35mm Canon triple digit (Europe) or Rebel (USA) are ten a penny and can usually be obtained for free on FreeCycle or Freegle. They are utterly worthless as used models, so if you must pay for one then don't pay more than around £10 even if perfect for a body only unless you can thoroughly examine it before purchase in which case it's worth up to £20. In the USA those prices will be even lower.

My pictures and negatives have a white line going threw it .

It's scratch along the film and will have been caused by either faulty film (very unlikely but not impossible), or it has been scratched when running through the camera or processing machinery (sadly both very common).

Open the back of your camera and lay a section of scratched negative over the back, emulsion side down, just as it would have been when taking photos. Use the scratch to guide you to find any rough/sharp points especially across the masking frame (the 36mm x 24mm rectangular hole in the camera which determines the size of the image). If you find none, then take your negative along and ask ask at the photo lab you use whether they have had any problems. They'll almost certainly say "no" but will then quietly check and rectify their machinery if they find dirt or debris stuck in there. Frequently the fault is in their sleeving machine which cuts up the negatives into shorter lengths.

Unfortunately, it's a problem which is far more common these days. Most 35mm film cameras are old and poorly maintained, or are just overpriced and badly made plastic toy cameras like the entire Lomo range. In addition, many people get their films processed at local minilabs and as they're used less frequently now the standards of operation and maintenance have generally fallen. I find that if I use a postal processing service the large commercial labs have better maintained machinery. The downside is that the local minilab will often give a more personal service with respect to getting an accurately exposed print and the large commercial lab will not unless you pay for a premium service.

The camera's battery died yesterday. I changed the batteries this morning and now I only get the green light to come on, but the light stays on when the camera is off as well

It sounds like your power on button may be stuck, if the ON indicator is always on. That may be the reason your battery was dead yesterday. Try reinstalling your batteries, checking carefully the positive and negative positions, and working your power button several times rapidly to see if it is stuck. If it is still showing a constant ON condition, try the following steps. With the batteries out of the camera, try a tiny bit of rubbing alcohol around the power switch, working the switch rapidly for a few seconds to see if that frees it. Replace the batteries with known fresh ones and try to power up the camera. That may fix your problem. If not, the camera will probably have to be repaired or replaced.

Says lens error restart camera yet my lens will not close

Hi, your lens has probably been damaged , usuallly by dropping or bumping , or sand or some other particle may be jamming it. Try using a piece of photo film ( exposed negative) to search for anything that may be stuck in the lens where it telescopes out. Another "fix" is to firmly bang the corner of the camera case into the palm of your hand quickly after pushing the power button. This may loosen the jam

My iphone 2g takes pics which appear like negatives

I experienced the same problem. I clicked on Settings, then clicked on General and clicked on Accessibility...then make sure that Off is selected for White on Black. Once I changed that setting...I could view my pictures in color and not in negative. Try it. What a relief ...cuz I thought something was wrong with my phone's camera.

It sonds like teh shutter is stuck open. If the camera is indera year old it is probably still under warranty. Take it to an authorized repair shop and they will most likely repair it for free.
