Question about Belkin (F5D7230-4) Router (587009)

Belkin wireless G router and MicroNet Realtek RTL8187B USB

I have a Belkin wireless G cable router, which my daughter's Vista laptop and iPod connect to wirelessly no problem. My own (fully patched) XP laptop has a MicroNet/Realtek 8187B USB wireless dongle. This dongle can ''see'' both my neighbour's wireless networks, but not my Belkin. I have also connected a BT Home Hub to my network via a crossover cable to provide a second wireless access point. The laptop+USB dongle will ''see'' and connect via that OK. Any ideas as to why the MicroNet/Realtek will not ''see'' the Belkin router?

Try checking your computer's driver. Right click on Computer. Go to Device Manager. The device drivers are listed in the device manager. Drivers are used to make your computer parts communicate with the operating system. If it has a problem, then the part won't work.

Check for your wireless driver - update it. If no go, then try turning off your wireless adapter in your computer and turn it on. Check = if no go. Try going to safe mode with networking.

To go to safe mode. Do the following:

1. Restart your computer. While it's starting or booting, keep tapping F8 until you see the options to go to safe mode with networking. Use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode with networking.

2. Let your computer start in safe mode. Check if wireless is working fine.

If you want to avoid this kind of problem in the future or if you want to make sure that your computer is running well, then install Radarsync.

This is not a problem. Wireless connections sometimes tend to be inconsistent. Try closing the distance between your laptop and the wireless network adapter.

It's an Siemens SE572 wireless router and the laptop is wireless enabled and running Windows Vista. I installed an update for Vista, it was Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Network - Realtek RTL8187B Wireless...

You can reset your router by holding in the reset button on the back of the router for a while. This will force it to go back to factory settings. Use the default username and password to log in. Have you restarted your router since upgrading your drivers? That may help as well.

If all else fails roll back your wireless network card drivers. This is done through Device Manager. Right click the adapter, go to properties, and rollback to the previous driver. Hope This Helps!!!  Please Don't Forget to Rate my Response!!! Thanks!!! yuva

WiFi unable to connect/maintain connection

Hello b... couple things.

First; see if going into Control PanelNetwork Connections and disabling the wireless network connection, then enabling it again fixes it. If it does then you have a work-around...

Second; there was a Realtek driver update offered by Windows Update. If that has
been installed (Control Panel-Programs and Features-View Installed Updates)
roll it back to the previous driver through Device manager and get the
update direct from either Toshiba or Realtek.

See if that helps.

This seems to be happening with that Wireless card and Vista... let me know what happens please.

Download the 8187b drivers from Realtek's site. You then need to go in and edit the .inf file to read like this:

;;****************************************************************************
;; IDs for 98SE/ME/2K/XP
;;****************************************************************************
[Realtek]
%RTL8187B.DeviceDesc% = RTL8187B.ndi, USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8197&REV_0200
%RTL8187B.DeviceDesc% = RTL8187B.ndi, USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8189&REV_0200

After the edit, install as usual from the device manager.
