Use the type of refrigerant it came from the factory with unless you, or someone before you, converted it to a different type. You cannot mix R-134A and R-12 in the same system without purging and converting to the new type. The oils are incompatible.

If you have an R12 system, and can't find any genuine R12, there are compatible substitutes available in 15oz cans. Just Google "R12 Substitute".

Need to Add air conditionaer coolant

R-134. Your local parts place might have a kit that has everything you need to add R-134 FREON. I've also seen them at wal-mart too. Follow the instructions exactly as written. When you say Air Conditioner coolant I am assuming that you need the Freon and NOT the Anti-Freeze that goes in the little tank mounted on the firewall.

What type ac fluid used r-12 or r-134

Check the schrader valves where you charge the A/C system if it has threads on it like you can screw on the A/C manifold gauges then its R-12 if it has the type that couple on and no threads then its R-134 but make sure no one has screwed on some 134 fittings on them. Normally on the outside there it should tell you what type freon that vehicle should take you need to look around under the hood at the labels and see if you cant locate it.

Came with R12, it's going to be hard to fine, be cheaper to retrofit to 134a freon, will work just as good.

What type of freon does my 1988 jeep pickup take?

1988 jeep probably has the real freon and you need to take to have it flushed out or fill. maybe have it replaced with the 134-b, you can buy that anywhere and fill it yourself.

What kind of freon does a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis use ? 134a ?

It uses 134. Remember to use the correct type of oil charge if the compressor is noisy. If you are doing it yourself and want to purge the system, you can get a vacuum pump on loan from Autozone or Oreillys. It is a big deposit but you get the money back when you return the machine.

Ac is blowing warm air in my 2005 sierra 2500hd duramax. Any idea

Your system has R-134 Freon in it. the 134 is made up of smaller molecules than the old R-12. The R -134 permeates through the rubber parts of the system. If the system gets too low on Freon, the compressor will stop coming on.(low pressure cut out switch). Have the system serviced with an A.C. machine that can vacuum, measure the amount of Freon in the system, and add the right amount. The machine can also inject die. Later the die will show up under a black light. This will show any leaks you may have.
