Defiant keypad deadbolt

Brought new keyless dead bolt. Put it in a door that opens in with hinges on right side. The problem is that the motor wants to turn the dead bolt the opposite direction, unlock extends deadbolt, counterclockwise, and lock retracts deadbolt, clockwise. Are there different deadbolts or is there a way to reverse the order the motor rotates?

SOURCE: brought new keyless dead bolt. Put it in a door

My lock adjusted itself automatically... You have to hold the lock button in (on the exterior side) while you insert the battery pack - the deadbolt will cycle in and out, then beep a couple times. You'll be holding button for maybe 10 seconds.
I have to say while this step is included in the instructions in a big red box, it says nothing about why or what its doing, so I imagine many people miss this...

How to fix a deadbolt lock that does not retract fully so door unlocks to open

You have to move the lock covering the big hole back toward hinge side by loosing screws and moving to the side till the deadbolt moves back all the way flush. Some deadbolts have a little indent ring to go inside the hole to hold it in position, that makes it harder to move whole thing back. Other brands that indent ring an is only option that you don't have to use. Maybe someone installing didn't put hole in right place, if it's too far off the lock when flush may expose the hole some. Then new door or creative fix to fill gap.

I bought a DEFIANT KEY PAD DEADBOLT.

Usually you just take it apart and turn everything around, the keypad would be turned over and the bolt would be removed and turned to the reverse of where it was.

If it is the type below, I am thinking you would remove the deadbolt part and turn it and then there must be something inside that reverses the throw of the bolt. No instructions with it?

How do I lock the door with the key pad? I can unlock it fine but I can't get the door to lock. Don't have the manual. what buttons to I press?

Push the Lock button on outside touch pad to extend latch bolt 1" which locks the door when you leave.
Enter your desired personal code to retract the latch bolt completely which unlocks the door when you return home.
The T-turn on the inside of the door is used to extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt when you are inside.
Using the key from the outside will also extend (lock) or retract (unlock) the latch bolt.
This Touchpad Electronic Deadbolt should be accompanied by a Kwikset Knobset, Leverset, or Handleset.

I cut & pasted the above from the installation instruction sheet.
Here is the link to the entire installation instructions sheet (manual):

http://s7d5.scene7.com/is/content/BDHHI/40486-02

It is a .PDF file, so if you aren't able to view it, download and install Adobe Reader from this site first:

If you are not able to lock the door using the outside touch pad's lock button, you may need to reprogram the door's "handedness", which gives the lockset the ability to be used on doors that have their hinges on either the right or left side of the door (right-hand or left-hand door).
The instructions for that are found on Step 4.9. This is also an excellent time to change the batteries, which is recommended yearly.

Good luck!

Weiser keypad deadbolt lock deadbolt does not move when motor runs

Hi... You have too be sure that the deadbolt is free when it go inside the deadbolt hole... however this system is very low power and the (over torque clutch) will sleep if the deadbolt it's not completely free.
Also if you try to open the door before you unlock it, you may block the the deadbolt inside the deadbolt hole. Take care too unlock the door before open-it...

Our powerbolt does not work well in the cold. It appears as if the batteries no matter how fresh, are not strong enough to turn the bolt. I thought I had seen a new model where the keypad simply unlocked...

Batteries, when they are cold, do not give off the same amount of power. You can test this by putting them in a freezer for a few hours and then trying them in a battery operated device. They cold does not hurt them, and they will work fine once they warm up. Depending on how cold the batteries get for your deadbolt this could be the problem. Also if the deadbolt is rubbing at all against the lock plate it could put unnecessary pressure on the motor. Schlage does make a deadbolt system that uses a keypad and a manual turn. The Camelot or Plymouth models.

Door opens half way then closes quickly with electric operation sprayed wd40 on rollers but still not working properly

Sounds like the 9 volt battery is very low, please put in a new, fresh 9 volt battery and see if that helps, as you've already addressed any issues with sticking, etc. When the battery(ies) are low, some electronic locks don't have enough power to fully pull in the dead bolt and the internal spring can overpower the small motor and cause the lock to re-engage quickly.

If you're getting a flashing red light when you enter in your key code, followed by flashing green light, your battery is low, if you're getting a flashing red light, the batteri is critically low.

If you have recently installed this lockset, it is possible that the alignment is off and is causing the deadbolt to drag and is preventing free movement. You'll need to adjust the lockset to allow the deadbolt to move freely by turning the hand knob with the door shut all the way.

If that doesn't help, please contact Schlage directly by calling them at the numbers provided:
