Sounds like your evaporator is icing up. When the air is flowing over the evaporator it cools and dehumidifies the air. That water from the air will freeze over the evaporator and turn it into an Ice block. There could be many reasons this is happening. First check your air filter, crucial that it gets changed every 2 to 4 months, if its dirty then change it. Other reasons are that the condenser and or evaporator are dirty, could be low on refrigerant. Since you say the airflow is good at the beginning of the cycle then I'd rule out the fan having a problem.

So check your filter first but I highly recommend calling a pro to check the refrigerant level.

also, if you have fried food while running the AC the filter can look clean, but each little hole in the filter mesh will be reduced in size due to the coating of oil. Make sure that you wash the filter in warm water with a bit of detergent & then wash again with clean water prior to letting it fully dry

David, you pretty much answered your own question when you said it sounds like ice cubes crackling.That\'s exactly what it is.Fire it up,good air flow for 30 minutes. No AC,shut it down.Well,an hour is plenty long enough for all that frozen water that soaks the dirt and scum thats caked up in the unit to thaw out and go out the drain. Then your air flow is back.DON"T turn it back on untill youve pulled the cover off and hosed the intire unit out with a garden hose with pressure.You\'ll se what I mean when you pull the cover off top.I\'m an RV man too Bro.Keep it clean,it\'ll keep her cool. After a thorough cleaning, leave it uncovered for the day.Let it dry completely.Check for dirt again in the condensor.Ya gotta do this every year before going on that excursion.Regards,Rigger.

Testimonial: "This unit is only 7 months old and the filter was cleaned 2weeks ago. I checked the filter and it was clean. But there is a tag that says" this freezer control sensor must be properly installed" this was hanging off a wire inside the ac unit. Model #57915-301"

AC having problems

Evaporator is freezing up with block of ice and that stops cold air flow. When it melts by turning it off, it will work again till the ice reappears.

Try running the AC with a higher fan speed and also use the setting to introduce warmer outside air into system to combat this situation.
OR
If you have a tad of refrigerant removed the pressure will be lower and the compressor will turn off more often.

Why does my air conditioning on my 2009 Pontiac torrent turn itself off?

Was the air flow ok before it stopped working ?
Following could be additional possibilities :
1. Bad blower motor
2. Choked evaporator coil

2nd one seems a primary issue ... if evaporator coil is choked it will flow less air in the cabin and after coil reaches the set temperature the thermocouple sensor will cut off the AC (that might be what has been happening so far) .Now ,You should be hearing the sound of blower but no air from the vents.

Fridgidaire ffht1817lw8 noisy operation

Good Afternoon John, thank you for your post! Your new high-efficiency refrigerator may make unfamiliar sounds. These are all normal sounds and soon will become a common hum in your home. This noise also indicates your refrigerator is operating as designed. Hard surfaces, such as vinyl or wood floors, walls, and kitchen cabinets may make sounds more noticeable.

Listed below are descriptions of some of the most common sounds you may hear, and what is causing them:

A. Evaporator: The flow of refrigerant through the evaporator may create a boiling or gurgling sound.

B. Evaporator Fan: You may hear air being forced through the refrigerator by the evaporator fan.

C. Defrost Heater: During defrost cycles, water dripping onto the defrost heater may cause a hissing or sizzling sound. After defrosting, a popping sound may occur.

D. Automatic Ice Maker: If your refrigerator is equipped with an automatic ice maker, you will hear ice cubes falling into the ice bin.

E. Cold Control & Defrost Timer or Automatic Defrost Control: These parts can produce a snapping or clicking sound when turning the refrigerator on and off. The timer also produces sounds similar to an electric clock.

F. Condenser Fan: If condenser coils are located underneath your refrigerator you have a condenser fan. You may hear air being forced through the condenser by the condenser fan.

G. Compressor: Modern, high-efficiency compressors operate much faster than older models. The compressor may have a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound.

H. Water Valve: If your refrigerator is equipped with an automatic ice maker, you will hear a buzzing sound as the water valve opens to fill the ice maker during each cycle.

I. Drain Pan (Non-removable): You may hear water running into the drain pan during the defrost cycle. The drain pan will be located on top of the compressor for air-cooled condensers (black coils on back of refrigerator).

I do hope this information proves to be helpful. Should you need any further assistance please feel free to respond.

My whirlpool stopped making ice cubes , water dispenser is o.k. and water to ice cube pan (rubber tube) won't stop running (leaking)

You are going to have to check the water solenoid to see if it is operating correctly. The solenoid operates from the AC power through a micro switch on the rotating cam. When the switch operates the solenoid is jerked out and allows water to flow. When the switch opens (timed to fill up the ice tray) spring pressure snaps the solenoid shut blocking the water flow. If the solenoid valve sticks in the open or partially open position, it allows water to leak by.

Bottom frezzer is working but fridge is not blowing cold air

Refrigerator gets cold air from freezer compartment. Either the air flow is blocked by food items or ice, or the recirculating fan is not working.

The most common failure is that the freezer coils get all iced up becuase the defroster timer, defroster thermostat, or heater has stopped working.

When it's running, you should feel cold air blowing out of the vents that are in the fridge, otherwise, the 'air tower' (air vent) is blocked with ice.

If you manually defrost the whole thing, and it runs fine for a day or so, then it's not defrosting properly. If you manually turn the defroster timer, and you don't hear the scorching/hissing/gurgling of the defroster working, then that would confirm a fault in the defroster circuits.

Based on the following thread, it's probably a bad defrost thermostat.

Four things cause icing up:
( 1 ) Is your filter clean? dirty filter blocks air flow causing iceing up. replace filter
( 2 ) Do you hear the Indoor fan running? If the fans not running the unit ices up. Check Capacitor to fan if good.
Bad fan motor... replace fan motor and cap. If both good
( 3 ) Check Air Handler evap coil if dirty and or clogged, restricts air flow causing unit to ice up. Use toilet brush to clean.
This is always a big possibility if you have pets.
( 4 ) If the above are not present then you are low on refrigerant.
Low refrigerant will cause icing up because the gas does not flash properly. This will require a service tech.
refrigerant leaks can be as simple as a loose cap on the king valve, leaking schrader core, to coil leak.
Have the service tech show you the leak. If it is in a copper line it can be fixed. If the system is over 10 years old limit the amount you want to spend. 10 years is the standard life expectantcy anymore. Good luck

Ice amker and water spickett is no longer working

Hollow ice cubes are the result of poor water flow to the ice maker. I know you already have experienced flow issur since you mentioned poor water dispenser flow. You apparently have a filter clogged, a house supply valve clogged or lastly a clogged water solonoid valve. The filter is self explanitory. You would replace the filter. The house supply valve is next most likely, to test it you would need to remove the supply line at the rear of the refrigerator after turning supply off the turn supply on to check flow. If the flow is STRONG then next most likely is a clogged solonoid valve. To test it you would, with supply connected and turned on, need to locate the plastic tube that goes to the water dispenser reservoir in the refrigerator section. Disconnect the tube at the solonoid valve and place glass or pitcher at solonoid port while someone presses the diapenser lever. If you have poor flow then but had good supply flow, the valve must be bad.

Ice Maker Making Noise

I was able to solve this problem by doing the following:

1) Carefully (because there may be sharp metal blades in this area) reached into the upper left compartment of the icemaker and pressed down on ice cubes that seemed to be lodged there and were protruding slightly above the slots they should have been passing through.

2) Press down on the cubes, forcing them through the slots and into the cube container below

3) Lift the metal arm, remove and completely empty the ice cube container

4) Return the ice cube container to the freezer, making sure it is seated properly

Close the freezer and wait until the ice cube maker begins to make new ice cubes. The sound should stop in around 10-15minutes.

Ice Maker does not work

My ice maker jams up once in awhile. I use a hair dryer aimed at the mechanism on high. Avoid close contact air flow directly on plastic parts. Takes 2 to 3 minutes. You will hear machanism pop several times, then wire raise up and drop.
